Michigan Cowbell App for WP7

Submitted by pasadenablue on

I happen to work for a large company, and a co-worker sent out the following email:

In preparation for “THE GAME” this weekend, I wanted to share an update to a free Windows Phone 7 app I have written that you might enjoy: More than Cowbell.

You can enable ‘Michigan Mode’ and use the app to play the ‘Go Blue!’ cowbell chant. Make sure to pin the Cowbell to your start screen to show even more school spirit.

You can install the current version of the app for free (no ads) from the marketplace here:

I have submitted the updated version with Michigan Mode and hope it will be available before Saturday.

So those of you with Windows7 Phones, I know you've got a fever.  Here's the only cure.

Yeah, good point. I got one as my first smart phone, thinking it was (ironically) the most nonconformist brand. They told me it had thousands of apps, growing (and catching up to iphone and droid) almost exponentially. In reality, there are many cool apps (e.g., mgoblog) for other phones not available for windows phone, and frankly despite the money they put into it I wouldn't be surprised one day they decide to cut their losses and give up, leaving everyone with a windows phone hanging. They've been terrribly slow with long promised updates and fixes.

In any case, super cool idea, and it certainly got me excited; not just for the michigan cowbell app but because there seemed to be something useful available especially for windows phone. I just downloaded it and there's no Michigan mode, and the responsiveness on my Samsung Focus is not quick enough to allow me to play anything very accurately. Hope the Michigan mode update happens soon. Will my phone let me know when it updates?

I have a Samsung Focus as well and couldn't be happier with it. There are now 40k apps for Windows Phone, and while that's still much less than Apple or Android there aren't any apps I feel that I'm really missing. MGoBlog would be nice, but I just have the home page pinned to my start page, as folks would do with an app anyway. No way MS is dropping this operating system - Nokia is betting its company on it and the "Metro" interface is what you'll be seeing in the next version of Windows. My wife is dropping her iPhone 3 for the new version of the Focus that just came out a couple of weeks ago. Hope you hang onto you Focus and enjoy the new 7.5 features that were just distributed (free) and the next updates as well.

who's actually been able to sign up at http://republicwireless.com/ ?

I'm on the waiting list--what harm is there in that--but if it actually works decently, I'd trade my wife's and my iPhone and $150/mo AT&T contract for a low-end Droid and 2 * $19/mo.  The initial $199 cost of each phone would be paid for in four months.

Downloaded it just fine, just waiting for the Michigan update.  Looks like a nice app!  I switched from an iPhone 4 to a Windows Phone and am so happy i switched.  The Windows Phone is to dilithium as Android/iPhones are to Navarre.  You should really try one if you haven't yet.  The HTC Titan which just came out is amazing.
