When are these guys going to wake up and go back to campus sites? Go a step further and have best of 3 series too in first and second rounds. Then Frozen Four is same format.

For some reason, the NCAA thinks playing in front of 2,500 in Green Bay, Ft Wayne, or Pigsknuckle, Arkansas is much better than selling out Yost.  The NCAA is freaking pathetic I tell ya.

It's ridiculous that a #1 seed from the CCHA has to travel to WCHA country to play their first round game.  I understand they don't want to play games on campus, but what's wrong with a place like Compuware?  It seats 4,500, which would be more than enough based on what I saw today.

If the game was held in Michigan, Compuware wouldn't be nearly big enough (assuming M or State played). JLA would be a good site, though. Allstate or possibly the United Center would be other solid options.

The attendance yesterday probably has more to do with holding early round action in Green Bay and having a Michigan school play a LAC with 2,000 students in Bridgeport in the middle of the day. I really think the NCAA is doing whatever it can to minimize profits.

he crashed the net! No where near being interference on the net minder! But we can't be bitching about an overturned call when we had over 9 mins of PP time in the 2nd period. We were being given chances and didn't capitalize. It always kills you. No excuses.

No question about what an effect it had, but these guys have no one to blame but themselves. Things happen. And when they happen that early, it's on you to decide how the game is going to go. They simply did not play a good enough hockey game to deserve to advance. It sucks, but that's what just happened.

so my night got a little extra cherry on top as we are clearly going to lose the #1 seed to the NHL Bettmans.

You may not be able to read my last reply, though, because apparently it is overrated because a little girl is chasing my posts tonight.

Hi all,

I'm a writer for Cornell's school newspaper, The Cornell Daily Sun. As some of you noticed, the Cornell band played the Michigan State fight song at the hockey game this weekend. It's since gotten a decent amount of attention on various websites. As such, I'm writing a short article about the Cornell band's newfound fame (if "fame" is the right word). For the article, I was hoping to talk to some Michigan fans (preferably someone who was at the game, but not necessarily) about what their reaction was to hearing the MSU fight song. If your interested in spending 5 minutes talking to me over the phone either tonight or tomorrow, please let me know and I'll send you my phone number (Is there a direct message feature on this forum? I've been unable to find it). Thanks.

Old college paper reporter to college paper reporter [You're] editor would probably shoot you if he saw that!

As for the article, I read it.

Your characterization of the Michigan fan reaction was a bit, I don't know, disingenuous, I think. I know my readers and the readers on Yost Built, and the hockey fanbase of Michigan in general, and the overwhelming response was mad respect and "well played." Their choice of using MSU's fight song instead of Ohio State's kind of dulled the effect, since whenever some bit of Spartan "lore" pops up from another school--especially an ivy--we immediately figure Michigan State just got that with the rest of the traditions they stole when it was time to act like an ag school near Lansing, MI, has tradition.

It was MSU fans who got all "Ha, in your FACE, Michigan!" about it, because they are that kind of fanbase. However I should think an Ivy of all things should be able to appreciate the disassociatively intellectual "Hey, am I being elaborately trolled right now? How remarkable," response the Wolverine fanbase had for this.

Also expect a phone call from Michigan's pep band, who indeed played quite a few different songs during the game.
