Michigan commits on All-USA Team

Submitted by True Blue Grit on

In the USA Today paper this a.m., in addition to having Drake Harris pictured on the front, they listed the "American Family Insurance All-USA" football team - and it was loaded with Michigan commits:  George Campbell, Mason Cole, Drake Harris, Michael Ferns, and Jabrill Peppers.  I'm never quite sure how legit some of these All-American teams are  and whether they've been "regionalized" to draw clicks.  But a search on Google turned up the same list:  http://www.usatodayhss.com/amfam/article/american-family-insurance-2013-preseason-all-usa-football-team.  At the bottom of the article, it said:  "The team was compiled by USA Today Sports' Jim Halley after consultation with high school coaches and recruiting analysts Tom Lemming of CBS Sports Network and JC Shurburtt of 247Sports.com".  So, I guess make your own judgement.  But either way, it's nice PR for Michigan football.

Considering that the one area of need, according to many, is WR, let me take a look at who is reeling in those top-notch WRs. Hmm--appears one school has all the WRs. And that would be...

Yeah, I think we can feel good about our recruiting these days. This is why the podcast tries to talk about recruiting but devolves into girlish laughter.

I would definitely take it as at least a small compliment to the class that Hoke and the staff have put together when Michigan commits make up nearly a quarter of the list. If nothing else, the attention is not bad at all. I must admit that I hadn't seen the summary of Fournette's stats from last season, but...

"Ran for 2,136 yards and 31 touchdowns on 196 carries and had 313 yards and three touchdowns on 15 receptions."

I believe that comes out to 10.9 YPC for Fournette. Wow.
