Dude, why the personal attack?
Mason NEEDS this, Pistons, after all you've put him through
Dude, why the personal attack?
You don't want to be accused of being one of profitgoblue's many screennames......
Anyone else note all of the new members that signed up in the past few days? Its going to be a fun next few weeks . . .
Heaven forbid the site becomes more popular and allows Brian to make a buck or two.
Didn't Brian mention that his site readership went through the roof during the last coaching change, and that a lot of those new users stayed?
My theory: Brian is behind EVERYTHING, from the real estate lawsuits to the complaints about swearing in practice to the Freep investigation, solely in an effort to get to this moment of time -- another coaching search, a trebling of site readership, and Mr. Brian Cook rolling in Google Ad dough. Fiendish!
I actually lurked for quite sometime, cautiously wading in the waters for a long time until someone said, "Come on in, the water's fine!"
Since then, I can't quit. Sure, I tell myself there is something better out there, but I always come back to this blog. I enjoy Brian's writing and most of the commentary.
I spent over three years following this site and now Imma gonna get me somthem mgopoints. mmmmmm delicious.
I wonder if the domain name "mgohonolulublueandsliver" is still available?
mgopats, mgojets, mgohenne, mgosteelers are all interesting.
We will take both Harbaugh's for $8 million. Now that would be a real steal.
I would kiss the ground if Gary Patterson and at least half of his staff came to Ann Arbor.
i want chucky!!
What if you could have "chucky"?
I see it now. It makes sense to me. DB names Brady Hoke HC. Who in turns names Chuck Heater DC. Your OC is Al Borges SDSU OC. Scott Loeffler comes back as QB coach. Lot of michigan men there. OMG I need a drink.
Would love me some Patterson. He did as of a couple years ago turn down a chance to coach his Alma Mater (KSU) and move back to where is family closely resides currently. I would love him anyway, but if it is between him and Hoke, it is no contest.
Or he just drank a red bull:
I would think if Brandon dropped a name on the players it would have leaked by now.
was most likely one of our kickers!
A name wasn't dropped as to who is coming, and I can confirm that.
He was refering to the moment when Barwis left the meeting and his teammates actually lifted the weights off his shoulders...
I'm going with Cox
What about Matt Millen? I hear he's been doing great things as a TV announcer that should translate well into coaching the game? Any thoughts?
Here is a out of left field pick for you Tony Dungy. 55 years old and from Jackson Michigan. Went to college at University of Minnesota. He also finished fourth in career total offense in the Big ten. Sounds good to me
I am hoping for a dominant NFL personality that has had prior college coaching experience. I know thats a tough find, but im hopeful.
Dungy was an excellent player and pro coach. But he's also a self-appointed Voice of Morality that skews a little hucksterish. He's made a business out of it. Plus, that homophobic church of his won't fly in AA.
See enclosed article about Tony Dungy Inc. This stuff is pretty well established:
His team won last night, I think!
I've seen Mariucci's name in a few posts. Decent guy, sure, and he coached the Lions. But he's incredibly tight with Izzo from their Iron Mountain days, and there's no way he'd meet any kind of 'fit' criteria for a Michigan coach. And I'm sure he has no interest.
I'm so happy the blogs back to normal, can't wait until we find our guy.
So, Hoke, Patterson, Les, et al - nobody is 'fessin' up. Either we are totally off base, the candidates haven't been approached, or they are just not talking.
or would that be a major buyout? I know he doesn't fit the "Michigan Man"-defensive mind-power offense, but his name got quite a bit of mention the last time around and its not like MIssouri fell off the face of the earth.
1) He's old.
2) Orson routinely devotes large segments of EDSBS LIve to his inability to win big games. Their win over Oklahoma was one of his first, ever.
ESPN reporting Pat Fitzgerald says he's not a candidate. Either he hasn't been contacted or he's not interested.
I'm relieved about this.
In the press conference DB mentioned Chris Singletary as remaining in the recruiting role. On the main page Barwis is mentioned as being retained as well. Do we have a complete list of who was retained? What about Fred Jackson? He is the kind of guy that DB would want to keep for recruiting and because of his long coaching career at Michigan. I wonder if Fred Jackson could get a job as an OC somewhere. H has years of experience coaching WRs and RBs.
I've seen multiple postings about how even Fred Jackson was fired, which makes no sense to me. Having at least Barwis/Singletary/Jackson to make the current players feel okay and/or keep this year's commits seems necessary.
i bet you whoever comes in retains hyperbolic freddie.
are two different things. Keeping the recruiting coordinator in place is probably necessary since we need someone to stay in contact with recruits. Likewise, having the S&C coach stay on board to supervise the workouts (even if it's for a little while) is probably smart.
Now, there's no guarantee that either stays with a new coach (unless Brandon says so). Likewise, there's no guarantee they don't jump ship with RR should RR find another school to coach at soon. I'm guessing the assistants don't have buy outs so even if they know they are going to go to whatever school RR does, in order to keep getting paid they need to stay at UM for now.
No one ever mentions Wayne Fontes.
Marty Moron? Hell, call up Jim Schwartz.
Deleware's KC Keeler would be a solid pick up. Another poster in another thread suggested it....Similar track record to Sweater Vest when he was at 1-AA YSU. No ties to Michigan, but he runs the no huddle spread and can develop Joe Pa's leftover talent (Flacco, Devlin)
I like the idea if getting him. I don't know to much about him other then he just always seems to win. How do his defenses perform? I want someone who has monster defenses.
Pat Fitzgerald wow I think I'm gonna puke
How in the world is Bob Green not on this list?
DB said in the past UM paid mid level money. Now he is willing to let it be known to any and every coach out there, we will PAY great money. Sorry makes sense to me he is targeting a higher to that has a record of winning, and can return UM to the rose bowl.
First choice is Les Miles. He can recruit, is the mad hatter so we can see trick plays. Oh and wins games, btw LSU fans want him gone.
Second choice is Gary Patterson. Beat wisconsin! Enough said.
Third choice is Gary Pinkel. What better way for redemption? He lost the Victory Bell game agaist Pelini and NU. Comes to UM and can coach against him. From Ohio area so can still have a factor on midwest recrutiing.
Final choice is Brady Hoke. Michigan Man. Would jump at the chance to come here, restore the tradition. Bring defensive edge, and smash mouth football. Seems to turn things around with small schools. Ball State is a terrible stadium. (how can you recruit there?)
Here's hoping DB makes a solid decision. Go Blue!
Was Gruden in Ann Arbor this week like was rumored? Nothing ever works, so I doubt it. Any reason we could be different than everyone else, and land him?
1. Bill Cowher - Not very realistic, but IMO is the best coaching candidate for the NFL or CFB.
2. Patterson - Again, not very realistic considering his current school is moving to the BE where his teams will be favored nearly every year to go unbeaten in conference play.
3. JH - Either Jim or John will fit here.
4. Brady Hoke - The man bleeds maize and blue, is chomping at the bit to come here, is genuinely liked(even if not completely wanted) by the fanbase, and would most likely be the only candidate that would be at UM for decades(instead of a few years or so).
5. Unknown at this point but I'm sure there is someone who will pop up on the radar that I haven't thought of, but would be a very good hire.
Those I DO NOT want, at all, at anytime, to become the HC include Miles(way too much baggage), Pinkel(too old, hasn't done much in the B12 overall), Urban Meyer(do not want someone else's saviour to be ours as well).
...Brady Hoke is around 52-53, I can't see him staying longer than 15 years, unless he pulls a JoePa, which hasn't necessarily been a good thing with the actual JoePa.
