Michigan BBQ and Recruiting thoughts
I thought I might create a thread where we might consolidate our thoughts/opinions/mindless rants about the big weekend coming up in Ann Arbor. This could potentially be a huge recruiting weekend for Michigan.
A couple talking points:
1. Tremendous recently posted on Facebook that he spoke to Leon McQuay III, who stated this morning that "My coach and dad told me that Michigan said if I didn't commit by this weekend, they wouldn't have a scholarship for me".
2. A friend of mine who is in tune with Clemson recruiting told me this morning that Clemson has "basically given up" on RB Derrick Green. Coupling that with Ohio recently ending their recruitment of Green, and the fact that he is spending three days in Ann Arbor with his family along for the ride - maybe there is something going on behind the scenes.
Or maybe not.
But it's worth watching.
And Dawson and Green have become very close friends during this whole process.

Everything's coming up Willhouse.
Anyone else heard that Dawson and Green are good friends?

Or maybe it's Green.
Let's be honest with ourselves, the most likely scenario for this weekend is that we get one ore two 2014 recruits. It doesn't seem likely that Green will change his whole gameplan and commit on the spot. You can figure it our for yourselves with the Treadwell news. It's possible we end up getting both, but I don't see it happening this weekend.
I think Auburn is still a serious contender for Green. Clemson might be content at RB with Tyshon Dye (4 star) and Nkemdiche's teammate, Wayne Gallman (3 star on Rivals, 4 star on 247)
Looks like an f5 Sunday afternoon for me.
I still can't get my head wrapped around that idea that we may be completely done with recruiting by july! Amazing.
We are destined to spend National Signing Day breathlessly awaiting surprise commits . . . for the class of 2014.
I will be on a cruise to Ensenada this weekend celebrating being married for an entire year. Those of you on this board who have my numba, please shoot a text with any big news, as I will have spotty-at-best reception and internet might be tough. Also checking MGoBlog on my anniversary is a recipe for not having another anniversary. Thanks.
From the creppy twitter stalking department;
Laquon Treadwell just re-tweeted this;
"One of my goals for this year before I leave high school , I'm gone do whatever it takes to get my teammates football scholarship."
This maybe a coach imposed thing from his high school, or it could just be him trying to help out a teammate, but this seems to be part of the reason he's holding off on committing. Some people may be reminded too much of Diamond from this, so we'll see what happens.
Thanks for spoiling the fun, Captain Obvious. But its fun to opine and debate, yeah?
Unlike the typical thread here, which really only has comments from current D-1 coaches and Michigan players.
K, thanks.
...as Michigan finalizes its 2013 recruiting class. In July. More than six months in advance of national signing day. Six months. During the Summer Olympics. Before the NFL preseason starts. Six months. July. July.
Here is my commit guess:
"IF" Hoke is allowing 2014's to commit this early, i am going to say we get 1 commit within 5 days of the BBQ, and i am going to say Ferns.
These kids are going to be juniors, and he let Shane commit during his Sophomore year.
Based on Shane's ability to play and recruit, we obviously should have made him wait another year.
