Michigan basketball vs Ohio Open Thread (2nd half)

500 for the 1st half, so I thought I'd start a second one.

I hate OLIO!!!!!! God! This game was right fucking there. Laying a complete fucking egg in the 1st half made the margin of error too small in the 2nd half. Can't play that shitty on the road and expect to win. Like the response to adversity...but damn, this is a tough pill to swallow. It doesn't get easier from here on out

For sure but this game hasn't changed ANYthing. So many factors against us today - geez if stauskas just hits ONE three we win this game. Anyways we won't be #1 - yet - but that was never the goal. I will second the poster whose sick of losing to those "inbreds". As always, f Ohio but well get them at home.

It's like they forgot how they got back into the game. As soon as the game was tied....it was over. They started jacking up 3's again instead of driving.

These guys have shown they can drive and dish and pick up a foul. None of them did it or did it enough.

THJ is SOO much better driving in, he willed his way to 6 straight points there in a stretch.

Sorry to say but if they had to do it over again, Spike should have been in the game. Burke did more harm than good today.

It's going to be interesting how they play after being humbled for the first time this year and in alot of cases the first time in their college careers.

I was just happy they clawed back in it but ohio gave them plenty of oppotunities to win it and Michigan wanted nothing of it.

In post game interview with Clark Kellogg, Thomas states... "Sometimes you gotta be a Pro's pro." I can't get over how stupid these Ohio kids are. How do you make a statement like that?

Game didn't end well, but after being down 22, we came back nicely.  Not satisfied, but I am so tired of the Trey Burke and Timmy hate and all the "f this" "f ohio".  Quit acting cray cray.  This is a very good team and we are lucky to have them all.  We will win a lot of games.  I hate Ohio, too, but everyone knows it's hard to play on the road.  We'll see them Feb. 8.

Without those two guys, we are Penn State. The youth of this team was on display today, and in their first true road test, they performed admirably. If Stauskas hits 2 shots, we win. It's not on him, but he won't have another game like this. This team will be better for having suffered this minor setback. I'm excited to see these kids grow and use this game as a learning experience for tourney play. Go Blue!

I am scared of your wolverines come march... Way to make a game out of this, as my heart rate almost returned to a healthy level. Good luck the rest of the year!

I have no doubt that your Wolverines will show up for the whole game in AA... It seemed like OSU played a little Tressel ball in the second half, trying to waste time and playing "not to lose." It almost cost the Bucks and it was not good for my blood pressure. You have a great team and I am really impressed with your coach. How long has Beilein (sp?) been there?

Let's be honest, nobody expected to go undefeated.  It's always tough to lose to Ohio State, but we really didn't come out to play.  If we hadn't gotten ourselves into a 21 point defecit, the outcome would be a completely different story.  Hopefully this is one of those "learning experiences" and we can take out Minnesota on the road.

My biggest concern is our disappearance of points.  We were averaging 80+ points and shooting 51.4% coming into the Nebraska game, and since then we've scored 62 and 53 and shot 38.9% and 38.3%, respectively.

The biggest problem with this team is the same that every beilein team has: Too much reliance on the 3.  That's going to be a problem come March.  They need to do more inside, drive to the basket and draw fouls and stop settling for jacking 3s.  I think that's all we did with 5 straight possessions in the last 2 minutes.  No set plays at all...just dribble and jack.

And thank you for actually using the proper name of our rival.  This "Ohio" crap makes us look stupid after last year's NCAAs.  We lost to a good Ohio State team, we don't play the Bobcats this year.  And road wins in the Big Ten are going to be at a serious premium, so there is no shame in losing today.  It was bound to happen.  Expect a dogfight at Minny too.  We got a tough stretch ahead with @MN, IU, MSU, and WI in the next few weeks.  We'll see what this team is made of.

The team has suffered from slow starts all year but were able to overcome. Today that caught up to them. What turns Mister Hand into Mister Fist is losing to Ohio, but it is one loss--this isn't football, a loss doesn't kill your season. And this might be what the team needs--a good excuse for Beilein to raise hell in practice and get the team back into a disciplined non-3 chucking offense.

The pick and roll. You know teams like state, minny and Illinois are going to do that when we play them. I think using the Wings THJ or Stauskas would be a good way to combat this bc it would get a shorter defender in Trey's face and would allow those guys to catch the ball going to the rim.

Props to Beilein for his recruiting... Just looking at your depth chart and I have a feeling you will be a force for the next few years to come.

Did anyone else notice the announcers kept saying Michigan didn't have depth? We played 8 players (9 if you count Horford's 2 min) and they played 7 (8 if you count Laquinin ross' 3 min). so whats the big deal???

yet again we have proved that when it comes time to show character we fall down...

We are currently soft ...both in basketball and football and cant win the program defining games.....we need to retract our expectations from mich sports ...they are good but not great and lag behind the top echelon of sports programs in the country..(ready for a flamebait tag)
