We need a post up coach. A pf or c should be able to slam it home anywhere close to the rim. Our lack of touch to finish strong is maddening.
Michigan Basketball vs. MSU Open Thread
Doesn't run w a true low post look. Contrast Sparty and UM.
Ok I get that but at least he could coach them to finish strong.
Where is our home cooking?! Nix and Payne are climbing backs all day
We officially stink
You stink as a fan. We got this.
more by refs than any other B1G team it seems like
Plus, we need 2 Bigs on the floor
We give up too many offensive rebounds, we can't make open threes, we can't get any calls, and Timmy just can't get going. This is not a winning formula.
MSU getting all the calls and the luck. Every tipped ball seems to go right to them. At least 5 points they got from purely luck.
Anyone know where he is please return him to Ann Arbor
he's still in madison. But this is his third year in a row disappearing down the stretch.
At least he'll be back for his senior year.
have never seen a home team not get any calls and have weak fouls called against them.
I have, about every Michigan game at home for the past month and half.
What?? We closed out a half nicely? THAT'S how you do it. Well done Michigan.
To watch Burke dribble around for a fadeaway 3.
That almost went. Christ.
Really key to cut that down to 3 from 7 let's go.
And we're only down by 3.
If that shot would've gone in I probably would've thrown my coffee table off my balcony. Not really, but close.
I would have burned my couch.
in the street.
and others would have come to either riot or celebrate.
Some of you people are bipolar...
Which one of me are you talking to?
will allow us to fix what needs fixed at the half without thinking about being down 10 or more, which could easily have been the case.
Nice transition basket to go into halftime. Have to get points from somewhere else in the second half. Burke can't do it all. Hope Stauskas is okay to play.
i thought a majority of fans wanted staukas out of the lineup?
Defensively, he hurts us, yes. I'm hoping for a 3-pointer spark of some kind though. Even if he's just coming off the bench.
I thought Lavert was fouled while shooting.
Good finish to the half.
We hit a couple threes and we have a lead. Not terrible. Anybody's ball game.
Need to hit some damn 3's, but we're right in this game. Not a bad first half.
The fact we are only down by 3 and went 0-7 from 3 and we played terrible that first half is a miracle. That was absolutely a bad half!
interesting 1st half.
I'm a little annoyed by too much whining here. I think UM has looked pretty good (better than most of us expected, yes?).
We are down three, while MSU is shooting 5-11 from 3 point, and we are 0-6.
If you were only reading this thread you would think that we are down by at least 15.
Do any of you remember us getting destroyed down low on the first game. We're playing pretty well. Stay positive; we got this.
If it wasn't for Payne, we'd be running a slam dunk contest on MSU. Gotta love the points in the paint today.
I thought Levert played well in his extended minutes.
He's really come on lately. I actually prefer him out there now. At least he attempts to play defense.
we don't get home refs. nix and payne are back climbers. we drive and get contact but no call. nix travels badly and nothing.
yet, we're shooting 0% from 3 and are down 3. half-time adjustment + regression to the mean = don't give up hope yet.
they just seem lazy and out of it not running any offense.
too much walking around and letting burke do something.
(looking at you glenn)
And they're actually making some strong, hard cuts off screens and to the basket.
i guess im just not seeing these strong, hard cuts you speak of
Physicality needs to be a point of emphasis moving forward if we are to take the next step. I want a couple more bruisers infused into this team. We have a lot of non-contributors on our bench that I wouldn't neccessarily want to take to a fistfight. Good kids I'm sure but the lack of physicality comes out against teams like MSU and OSU and Indiana...heck even Wisconsin. It's not a coincidence that we lose to those teams. It can't be all about jump shots and alley-oops. I see McGary as the only physical force we have. Thats a problem.
I totally agree with this msg.
3 ball seems to be the difference. Need averages to even out. Not at their best, but only down 3 at the half. Can easily turn this around in the final 20.
The question is...do we love Stauskas now that we can't hit a 3, and he is gone? Or do we still hate him?
We allowed 31 points despite not being able to get a defensive rebound. I think there's some correlation there, frankly.
I don't hate him. He's young. I don't mind him not playing today though. His defense is the worst on the team.
If your only way of following this game was via this thread, you would assume we were losing by 20.
Zone. Why don't we do this more?
