and... i like them? I think I like them.
Not to trying hijack, but Jehu Chesson tells me he's going to wear 86. Didn't think it was worth its own thread
It has it's own thread. Not just for Chesson, but all the freshmen.
This is genuinely positive news.
I can't help but think that it's possible that the vets are underestimating the freshmen at first and not bringing their A game, but even so...
Even if that is the case.... they are still B1G Champ vets haha
Extremely positive news
Remember like 2-3 years ago when we lamented that it was the worst all 3 major sports (football/bball/hockey) have been since like the 50's? And now look at us just a few years later. Basketball is preseason top 10, football is preseason top 10, and hockey is generally preseason top 3. Quite the bounce back I'd say
Hockey probably won't be a Top 3. We should be in contention for the CCHA, but we've got some Defense issues and trying to replace a midget goalie
needs to find someone (or preferably someoneS) to score consistently. Right now we have uhhhh... Guptill and Treais returning? Neither of whom was really all that prolific last year. And I totally agree with the D issues; the defense SHOULD be fine, but they SHOULD have been fine last year, too and the only reason the D numbers looked good was because Hunwick never stopped standing on his head.
That makes everything sound overly bleak. And it's really not. Michigan should be OK/good at everything, it's just hard to see where they're going to be great. They have the talent to be great everywhere (except maybe goalie) but it needs to be proven. Michigan should be more than good enough to make waves in the CCHA and make the NCAA tournament, but I wouldn't count on a 1-seed and probably not a 2-seed.
We'll probably be pretty decent next year, just not Top 3 like the guy I responded to was saying. Even in the small pool of college hockey I don't see us as a Top 3 team
I was also referring to the fact that I think INCH had us as their early-season #2.Too lazy to link the poll right now
I think we can pull out a 1 seed again this year. Hopefully some combination of Treais, Guptill, PDG, Moffatt, and Nieves will get consistent scoring. No doubt Hunwick is a big gap, but we are probably the last team in the country that should be complaining about Dmen. We have a top 10 pick, a 2nd rounder, 2 3rd rounders, a 6th and a 7th rounder plus a few other promising guys. I think D will be just fine
When I first read Burke's quote from the News article about the Ohio loss, the exit from the B1G tournament came to mind - not the NCAA. Hoke has forever brainwashed me.
Because of the controversial Basketball Seating change policy I was able to just today select my season tickets for this season. I have shared other's the past 2 seasons. I'm too excited to sleep!
who works at Addidas, he helps create new uniforms for various teams. Saw him yesterday, he throws me a bag with a jersery in it...boom, Michigan team jersey (maze version)...my legs got weak and I about cried when he gave it to me. It was a test jersey so on the back its says "ABCABC" where the name would be but I dont care...couldnt have come at a better time reading this article.
Jacked for basketball next season!
hell yea, watchout MSU and OSU. Your worlds are about to flip upside down.
I'm more concerned with Indiana than either of those teams.
"I won't say they destroyed us, but they were beating us 11-6, 11-7," Hardaway Jr. said. "There was one game, me and J-Mo just looked at each other and we were like, 'We need to show them what Big Ten basketball is really about.' And then we beat them 11-1, 11-2. They got their time, but it won't happen again."
Still good that they can beat them, but there is a difference.
Burke says "Ohio." hehe
I cant wait to win a NC in basketball and football in the same year!! GO BLUE!!
Decisions, decisions. To shock the world or not shock the world?
Beilein will find a way to integrate the freshman in so they can contribute. Need Burke to stay healthy. Think we could be okay with an injury to THJ or even Morgan but need Burke.
secured, I have gone to bed thinking about the new freshmen class and how they would match up against the vets in practice. I got that somewhat answered today.
In my pre-sleep imagination, I had Burke dominating Albrecht, Stauskas and Levert with an edge over Vogrich, Hardaway and Robinson even, and McGary even with Morgan/Horford. Then 2 months into the season, the freshman get the upper hand.
fiending for some McGary and GRIII action!!!!
