1. Horford puts on a lot more muscle and is our starting PF.

2. Douglass goes to the bench. I think he would be a better bench player. He would provide a spark because he can get hot at any moment.

3. We sweep Sparty again. They are losing some players and we lose no one. I see no reason why we can't sweep them again.

4. We beat OSU in Columbus.

5. We win the BIG 10.

Although I agree Horford is a 5 (because that is what he played all year), I would not be surprised to see 3 - 5 minute stretches periodically when Morgan & Horford saw the court together depending on: fouls, lead, height of competition.  It just makes too much sense to have stong post defense and rebounding at the end of a half or game to limit cheap points.

Again, Horford is a 5. If Horford & Morgan ever see the floor together, I would not be surprised to see Morgan playing the high post, because earlier in the year he proved he had a 15 foot jumper.

Have to disagree with 1-4:

1. Horford will put on a lot more muscle, but will never play the 4 and will split time with Morgan.

2. Douglass will remain the starter, for most of the season at least.  People always seem to overlook his defense, he is still the best perimeter defender on this team.

3. 1-1 against Sparty.  As much as I wish we could sweep them again, they still have Green, Appling, great recruiting class, so they beat us once after being embarrassed this season.

4. O$U in Columbus is a tall task.  I think we will beat them once, but that will come at home.

5. But I couldn't agree more here, Michigan will win the Big 10!

GO BLUE! cannot wait until next season!

we are going to win the Big Ten next year and be ranked in the Top 10. I am not ready to make any predictions on how far the team could go in the tourney, but they did almost make the Sweet 16 this year.

Final 4. I truly believe it. If Morris progresses as he should then theres a good chance he'll go to the NBA after next year, so we have to make next season count.

After the last three years, I have been "hurt" too many times to make predictions.  My psyche is too fragile to withstand too many more disappointments.

Having said that, I expect to win the B1G in hoops.

PIayers:

Darius Morris: 19.5 pts, 8.5 assists, 3 rebs, 2 steals (per gm). 5:1 asst-turnover ratio, BT POY, 1st team AA

Tim Hardaway, Jr: 16 pts, 5 rebs, 2 assists, 1.5 steals (per gm). > 50 FG%, 1st Team BT.

Zack Novak: 10 pts, 6 rebs, 3 assists, 2 steals (per gm) 100 3PT made. (due to more PT at the 3)

Jordan Morgan: 10 pts, 9 rebs, 1.5 blocks(per gm) > 65% FT, < 4 fouls per 40 mins, > 30 mins a game

Stu: 7.5 pts, 4 rebs, 2 assists. 80 3 PT made.

Smot: 8 pts, 3 rebs, 1 assist, .5 steals. 80 3 PT made. < 4 fouls per 40 mins

Other random highlights: Horford gets 500 mins (~14/gm), Burke and Brundidge don't play a ton since our core six get that much better.

Team: 27-7 (13-5), Wins over UCLA and G-Town in Maui, 2nd place in BT reg season (1-1 vs. MSU) and  2nd place in  BT tourney, 2 seed in NCAA, lose to 1 seed UNC in Elite 8 game.

Just pulled that outta nowhere. Just fantasizing I suppose.

It does pretty much seem like you meant our record would be 14-18 but I can see what you mean now.  Maybe you should select a range that doesnt resemble a possible record.  My prediction is that we have about a .700 winning % and are 3rd in the Big Ten.  If there is one thing that we learned is that we still need size so without that size we will not make it farther then the elite 8 unless we get some crazy draws.

Proud of the teams year but losing by that little still hurts a bit.

It will be very difficult for Morris to increase his assist rate next year. If he just maintains it, that will still be quite an accomplishment. The best chance for his assists/game number to go up is for Michigan to play at a quicker tempo.

His points per game are more likely to go up, but he might play less minutes. Michigan's scoring attack is also likely to become more balanced next year. He could be vastly improved and have similar ppg and assists/game numbers.

a little bit of a letdown after expectations become preposterous here and everywhere. Fair weather fans filter back to coffee shop, but M gets to the round of eight before running into a freight train in the form of Illinois State University.

goes from a "good freshman" to "better than any other players on the floor" and becomes very celebrated nationally.

Jordan Morgan develops as a real force inside.

Stu loses some PT to Smotz/Vogrich and impact freshman if he cannot start making a higher percentage from deep.

At a very minimum, sweet sixteen.  Elite 8 or Final 4 if we draw good matchups.

I predict that D-Mo and Hardaway Jr go so HAM next year that our starting backcourt in 2012-13 is Brundidge and Burke

We are strong in the hunt for our first regular season Big 10 Championship since 1985-86

When March begins, we're actually arguing if Michigan could still get a 2 seed

And next year at this time, we'll still be playing basketball

1. Morris moves to the 4 to increase our length in the paint.

2. Smotrycz moves to the point because the Big Ten hasn't had a decent 6'9" point guard since Magic.

3. Novack rides the pine because he refuses all body contact and won't take one for the team.

4. Hardaway is given the RED light, because he too often hesitates to take a big shot.

5. Beilein forbids all 3-point shots because "that isn't real basketball" and makes the team pound it into the post.

Many nights of happy drinking!  Also,

Morris averages close to 20 points and 10 assists per game

Michigan will have at least 2 (THJ and Morris) All Big Ten First Teamers with one more possible (Morgon? Novak? Smotrycz?)

Michigan wins the Big Ten

Michigan will be ranked higher by the end of the year than they will be at the beginning.

Michigan will be ranked in the top 15-20 at the beginning of the season.

Michigan will be a dark horse favorite to win it all.

Michigan WINS IT ALL!!!

Michigan finishes in the top 3 in the B1G and is at or above an 8 seed in the NCAAs.  Michigan reaches the Sweet Sixteen, possibly the Elite Eight.

I'll give them third place in the Big Ten.  But they peak at the end of the year and their style is perfect for tournaments, so they win the Big Ten Tournament and get to the Elite Eight.  There, they will lose to Duke when Novak is standing still, a Duke player takes three full steps and runs into him, Novak is called for a foul, and the Duke player sinks two with 0.5 seconds left on the clock.

I think they tie for second in the big ten, play in the big ten tournament final. and get anywhere from a 4 to 7 seed in the ncaa. I think anything less than a sweet sixteen apperance would be a dissapointment. Also, they must at least split with the top teams in the big ten. If THJ can improve his defense and his ball handling he will be a superstar. Please put stu on the bench and bring him in for short stints.
