From UMHoops:

Austin Hatch likely won’t contribute a meaningful minute to the Wolverines this year.

He’s still limited in practice, and he’s clearly much slower and less physical than his teammates. But every single time Hatch participated in a drill, at least one teammate or coach shouted a message of encouragement.

Every. Single. Time.

Hatch saw the court in Italy, and Beilein has been tight-lipped about whether the guard will redshirt this year. Regardless, Michigan’s behavior toward Hatch on Thursday demonstrated the freshman’s integral role on the team.

“So many people say, ‘What a great thing to have him on this basketball team’. No. The gift is from Austin Hatch to every one of us,” Beilein said.

Yeah, I'm not seeing much point in posting this. There's no new information here or any insight, just a (less pretty) regurgitation of information that is available other places. Thanks, but no thanks.

Edit: You upvoted your own post OP? Wow, classy. Wasn't going to neg this, but I for sure am now.

Personally, as well intended as your post was, I didn't find anything insightful about it. It was presented without comment or anything that most people in here don't already know. Honestly, it looked like you just copied over a barebones roster from another site. Had you added something to it like predictions, opinions or lesser known player info, that would have made it much more worthwhile.

That on it's own isn't enough for me to downvote you, but you upvoting yourself was. Also, your other previous comments, while sometimes insightful, seemed to be a pure point grab done in order to get enough points to start a thread. I may be wrong, but it gave that impression.

As for your missing points, it looks as if a chlidish poster with too much time on their hands is going through and negging all of your past comments. I apologize for their immaturity. Anyways, you write much better than I'd expect for your age (for whatever that is worth), but this blog is used to some damn fine writing and good insight even on the board. Make sure you are bringing your absolute A game to the table, lest you feel the blog's wrath. Good luck!

...I'm impressed with your motivation and ambition.

Just remember that when you start a thread/topic, you need to add something interesting or insightful.  In this instance, you could've provided your prediction for the starting line-up, or made an observation about how tall or skinny our players are...or something else.

You're also going to have to develop a thicker skin.  People are going to neg your posts or make snarky comments   It's just the way it is.  Don't take it personally....and don't respond by getting angry.  Best advice is to ignore it and not respond at all.

If you're really not sure how to handle something, ask one of your parents or another adult.

Good luck!

But here is some advice for you: Don't advertise your blog on other blogs without first asking the owner of the site for permission.

Good luck with the blog and keep writing.

The permission to advertise formally is a Brian / Seth thing, so if you want a link or something posted, remember that I said you'd have to go through them. The revenue end of it is way out of my realm of control here. As I mentioned on Twitter, there's never any harm in having the link to your blog in the signature line or, as you have done, in your avatar. A few people here who have blogs of their own or contribute to other Michigan blogs have done that.

Also, I work gratis here, so it isn't nearly as formal as you might think. ;-)

One bit of advice - stop obsessing about the points.  If you're active on the site, they'll come.  When you voice your opinion don't expect everyone to agree with it.  If they agree, they'll upvote you.  If they don't, they may or may not downvote you.  Regardless, the most important thing is to offer something insightful or well-reasoned.

People tend to down-vote when they see people commenting about their points.

A lot of people on this board, myself included, read the blog for years before joining.  During this "viewing" period, we learned a lot of the finer intricacies of MGoBlog.

short across the frontline the past two years. I actually think Michigan has more length and size going into this season than its possessed during Beilen's tenure.

And the offense should be more versatile and generate more postup and inside scoring than it did with Morgan and Horford in the lineup. As you will recall, the scoring the team got from those guys came mostly from putbacks or pick and roll plays and slip screens to the basket. This year, I expect both Donnal and Doyle will actually be counted on to score inside to open up the perimeter attack for Caris, Walton and Irvin.

Lookinh forward to seeing the contributions of all the newcomers including our newest blog participant. Keep on writing.
