Michigan Baseball - Game 2 of 3 vs. Oklahoma
Michigan baseball defeated Oklahoma yesterday in game 1 of a 3 game series, 5 to 2. Today they fell behind 3-0 in the first, but immediately struck back to take a 4-3 lead in the bottom half of the inning and now lead 12-3 after 4 innings. Might have to try and make it out for the series finale tomorrow. it starts at 2pm, so perhaps some of the folks who attend the spring football game can head over to the baseball game afterwards. Should be a beautiful day for baseball!
Getting pretty excited about this team. They look like a true contender for a CWS spot.
Road to Omaha!
Going to have to do better than third in the big ten by the end of year for that to happen.
So far justifying our ranking. Great to see baseball back in the national picture! I grew up with Jim Abbott, Hal Morris, Chris Sabo, Barry Larkin. Would love to see more Wolverines make it to the Majors.
GO BLUE!!
was impressive!..Now go for the jugular and sweep the series..If that happens our regional hosting chances go up..way up
Cleanup hitter Drew Lugbauer is 5-for-7 with 2 home runs and 6 RBI so far in this series. He is absolutely on fire lately.
If you just look at the Big Ten games plus the Oklahoma series, he is 19-for-42 (.452) in 11 games with 5 home runs and 23 (!) RBI.

Michigan is now at #14 in the nation in the Massey ratings, and #27 in the RPI. They're getting national attention for this, and as Raoul points out the top college baseball website sent their best reporter to the series, and he's saying very positive things about Michigan.
I still feel that the RPI is ridiculously under-rated, but I think I have a good understanding of how that happened. Just like basketball, you have to "game" the RPI. Michigan failed to do that this year: that 4-game series against #252 Northern Illinois was a killer, for example, and for some weird mathematical and competitive reasons a trip out west is nowhere near as beneficial to your RPI as a trip to the Carolinas or Florida.
It's Sweep time. Let's put the NCAA in a position where they have no choice but to give us a regional. Go Blue.
