Michigan Baseball Up to 16th
After a 3-1 week, Michigan is up two slots to 16th in Baseball America's weekly poll. Sparty dropped out after a brief week in the Top 25. Minnesota is a new addition at 24th. The Gophers have a one game lead over Michigan in the B1G standings. This week Michigan plays Sparty three times: Friday and Sunday in Ann Arbor; Saturday in East Lansing.

Is that typical in college baseball? Home-away-home? Seems odd.

It just seems odd to sandwich the MSU trip in between games in A2.
Starting back in the '90s and up until 2008 or so, the Big Ten had 4-game series each weekend: 1 game Friday, 2 games Saturday, 1 game Sunday. So to "even out" the MSU series, one team hosted the Saturday doubleheader and one team hosted Friday & Sunday. So every year, the MSU series was home-away-home or away-home-away in order that each team could host 2 games.
When they went to the 3-game series, nobody thought to change things--they kept the home-away-home and away-home-away pattern, even though there was no reason to do things that way any more. So yes, it's odd, but there is a "historical" reason they do it that way.

The B1G annouced the schedule with the games being in Ann Arbor. I can't find anything saying this was done but is it possible we traded a home game in 2016 with them in exchange for playin a game against them in Ann Arbor in 2017?

When Michigan and MSU play a 3 game series it baseball, traditionally it has always been home-away-home or away-home-away. So what you said is most likely correct.

I don't think it's an exchange, so much as the last time the two teams played (2013), it was A-H-A. It alternates one series to the next, which might not be in consecutive seasons.
Due to the close proximity of these rivals, the teams have a tradition of splitting their three-game series so that each team has an opportunity to play at home, and just one contest will be played in East Lancing this season. These historic foes have not faced each other in a three-game series since the 2013 season when the Wolverines swept the series with three straight victories.

EDIT: On the RPI front, Michigan has moved up to 23, tied with Minnesota. MSU (which lost 2 out of 3 to Indiana over the weekend) has fallen all the way down to 72.
Plus it's commencement at the stadium so a really light weekend on the home sporting docket ( just checked, not a single home event on Saturday--rowing doesnt count cuz they're in Belleville)

That was a midseason addition to the schedule that doesn't count as a Big Ten game.
