Michigan bars in Abu Dhabi?

Submitted by MGoJoe on

Can someone help a brother out? Looking for a place close to AD university, but anywhere is fine. Also, if anyone would like to meet up for an evening tailgate, let me know.

Apologies for the hijack off the bat. But I think we need a worldwide database of Michigan bars or groups. Struggling out here in Singapore and forced to join a group of Sparties for the game tonight. I typically try not to watch with opposing fans let alone Sparties.

Ha! I got a laugh out of this.  That' said, I think Abu Dhabi is littered with palaces, Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, etc.  Pretty wealthy oil city.  But to the OP, good luck, I'd imagine you'd have a hard time find a place that showed American sports, let alone a college football game.  Then again, this is Michigan fergodsakes, so we probably have an alumni bar there.

Can you stream Espn3.com from Abu Dhabi?

I'm in Zurich and I thought was out of the way. You not only want to watch MI football, but to do it in a bar in a country that is almost entirely dry. From Bavaria (this weekend) I raise my glass to you sir!

Highly recommend it.  Am sitting out on a deck on a little chalet looking out at the Alps, having a good German beer, and just dialed up Frank Beckmann.

Not bad, but sure would love to be tailgaiting with the maize and blue faithful in front of Little Brother's cute little stadium right about now.

There are bars, typically located at the hotels. I haven't spent much time in that region but my counter part at my company is living in jebel ali. I would be interested in knowing any michigan bars in australia, perhaps adelaide or perth. I'm going to be there most of november along with the philippines and japan..

There is, but they are mostly in the hotels and other areas that are solely there for foreigners. You can imagine that open container laws are insane, but yeah you can get all the alcohol you want if you go to a nice hotel, and I imagine are willing to pay a healthy mark-up on it.

I have had many a drunk in ex pat bars in UAE.  It's been quite a while so I can't tell you where (and def. not one that would have the game on). Most were associated with hotels.

If you're lucky enough to still have access to your UMICH kerberos account you can use Michigan's VPN network to get espn3 which has today's game on it.

Really? How do you access espn3? I am connected to Michigan's VPN network (using the Cisco off-campus profile), but espn3 still asks me for a cable provider. What am I missing?

I feel like it should be a mission in WoW.
