I don't want to sound like one of those people who thinks they are cool because they have inside information. I just thought this might be interesting to some of you, so I'm sharing. Also, if it sounds overly cryptical, I apologize. I just don't want to get anyone in trouble.
So on to the info. My friend is very good friends with someone high up in the Michigan Administration. This person does not work in the AD, but is someone who would definitely have a say on the firing of RR or the hiring of a new coach. Anyways, this person told my friend that they are 100% behind RR for several years to come. They are very understanding of what's been going on on the field because of all the youth, the new system, etc.
Now to many of you this may sound like old news based on what MSC and BM have been saying in the media, but I noticed some MGoBloggers who discredited the media comments, calling them "administration speak" (similar to coach speak). The comments made be this individual seemed very genuine to me based on their context and who they were spoken to. But I guess you will all just have to take my word on it.
I guess another reason why I made this post was to say something I had meant to bring up earlier in the week when the "Fire RR" crowd was taking over the board. For all of those out there that are still feeling that RR needs to go ASAP, I suggest that you really just try to relax and enjoy rooting for your team. Lower your expectations for a little while, and enjoy watching your team. As many of people have said over the past week, RR is not going anywhere anytime soon. By letting yourself get so worked up about it that you think RR needs to go right now is only going to make you miserable for the next two or more years. Whether you mean to or not, part of you will be rooting for Michigan to lose just so your point will be made to all of those who disagreed with you. The wins will taste a little less sweet and the losses a little less bitter. That is not what being a Michigan fan is all about.
It reminds me of the Wisconsin game last year when two students behind me were mercilessly ripping the team, the coaches, etc. At halftime, I turned to them and told them to shut up. I said that if they were real Michigan fans they would stand behind the team no matter what and to limit comments like their to private conversations. They of course fired back, and it ended by me telling them that we were going to come back and I didn't want to hear them cheering when we did. Anyways, I digress. But the point is that those kids definitely did not enjoy that win like the rest of us did because they were in essence being proven wrong. Don't let that be you over the rest of RR's tenure at Michigan. After all, It's Great To Be A Michigan Wolverine!
