Just win.

That injury did not look good, so I'm not optimistic he will be playing.

a bad feeling that the next time we see Speight will be in a bowl game or the Spring Game.

I'm guessing it adjusts considerably with that news, to perhaps -14 point range.
November 14th, 2016 at 12:39 PM ^
the under for $500, Alex.
November 14th, 2016 at 2:34 PM ^
They say you should always keep emotions out of betting, and I completely agree.
In my opinion, take the under on this one. My reasoning is that we are now the worst team in the B1G, based on our loss at Iowa (mother fucker). IU +26? Shit, I'd take IU at -26 (son of a bitch)! I have a feeling we lose this game outright, and that Harbaugh is fired promptly thereafter (cocksucker bastard). And then lightning strikes the Big House and we all die (let the pain end).
There, my emotion-free gambling hot take...

Really? REALLY?? You are able to measure the "focus" of athletes by watching them warm up on a field through a TV? If so, you have a pretty remarkable talent...

So wait, you can BOTH read emotions AND compare emotions across time and space just by looking at faces? My God, you should be one of those dudes that picks juries for lawyers, like that awful new TV show starring that guy from NCIS...

We cover on Senior Day. Because what better way to get your seniors in the game than by destroying IU by 30+. The team will rebound, we'll get a tune-up before OSU, then it's real hand-wringing time.

I will take any kind of win but I want to see O'Korn inserted and this offense still put up 35-49 pts. Michigan needs to get whatever that mess was in Iowa City straightened out and be ready to go for Columbus with Speight or O'Korn.
November 14th, 2016 at 12:08 PM ^
November 14th, 2016 at 12:50 PM ^
Betcha it ends under 20. Say 17-18 pt range.

Even if Speight plays he's injured, and Indiana's run defense is better than their pass defense.
November 14th, 2016 at 12:13 PM ^
Bo's team would bounce back big after an upset loss. In fact back in 1985 ( not really an upset, since Iowa was #1 and we were #2) when we lost to Iowa by a last second FG, we beat IU 42-15 the next Saturday at home. I look for a similar result with Harbaugh!

Don't be mistaken doomsdayers, this is not last year's IU team. This team played close games with MSU (24-21), Rutgers (33-27), and Maryland (42-36). We will win comfortable back at home.
If Speight is fine (which is probably not the case), I think we blow em out again. If it's largely O'Korn all day, I could see a 30-14 type day and general sadness at the looming trip to Columbus with no Speight

Beat OSU
Beaty Wiscy (again)
Beat Bama
Beat Clemson to win title
Profit

If you're interested, I did actually come up with how many of the 712 fucks given in the game thread were near sentences mentioning Speight, and it came out to about 18% of them, which is significant because it was about a signle performance, one which was an aberration given the data we have on Speight, but in the heat of the moment, apparently an aberration is treated as the norm. Such is life as a sports fan for many.

I can't remember the last time Michigan responded to a heartbreaking loss with a resounding win. I actually think O'Korn could come in fresh and tear Indiana up. The QB competition was close and no one has much Michigan film on him right now. He has more mobility and could give our offense an extra boost. Plus, this is all or nothing for O'Korn, his ultimate chance to prove himself.

The only heartbreaker last year was MSU, and while they did beat Minnesota the following game, it wasn't exactly a resounding victory. I'm talking about, when was the last time Michigan lost a close game and then came back the following week and just annihilated someone?
November 14th, 2016 at 12:26 PM ^
if we have to play O'Korn the entire game. Speight has been up and down this year and O'korn is a decent QB. Don't see a big drop off there if Speight can't go. I think 26 points was a little high, but we should handle them by 18-20.
November 14th, 2016 at 12:27 PM ^
Just annouced that Speight is a game time decision. To me, this means he won't play and Harbaugh is playing it close to the vest. If that's the case, call it complete homer optimism, but I feel like O'Korn, after losing a close QB race and sitting the bench all year will come out guns a blazing with something to prove.

Even if Harbaugh knows, why announce it now? Give Indiana something else to perpare for.
Hell, if I were the coach, I'd tell every single player to hobble off the field after the game and then announce that all of their replacements would be a game time decision.
Make the opponent prepare for the whole damn roster.
I'd even pretend to be sick myself and announce that Jon Falk may be calling the plays . . . it's a game time decision.
November 14th, 2016 at 1:10 PM ^
Well actually I'd argue it is good strategy. I mean, is there any film on O'Korn? You have all the film in the world on Speight...

Meh, two years ago, different system. Don't think you'd be able to hone in on any tendencies from that.

Michigan is only 5-5 ATS this year. You're not Craze-y picking against Michigan, especially with a question mark at QB.

I'm assuming Speight will be out this Saturday. Seriously, unless you're a damn freak of nature / cyborg on steroids like Adrian Petersen, you don't just come back the next week from a collarbone injury.
Let's just hope that we're about to see why O'Korn and Speight were so close throughout camp. Luckily, this is not O'Korn's first rodeo, he has a home game against a less-than-good opponent to get comfortable and to prepare himself in the "I'm the starter" mentality, and he has the best QB coach in all of football watching over him. Harbaugh will have him as ready as he can be if he needs to be the one to take us into Columbus.
November 14th, 2016 at 5:12 PM ^
Why wouldn't Harbaugh not announce whom his starting QB is until game time, even though he knows Speight is done for the year. That's common coaching practice not to tip your hat to your opponent.

I'm sensing it's dropping before our eyes. Indiana is not a bad team, but a team UM should beat with JOK or Sugar Shane.
