and we are a 3 seed at worst.  Unless every other team in that discussion wins out.  Not happening.

With that said, it is not unfathomable to foresee Michigan losing three of the final four regular season games.  That would be cause for concern for those of us who bought early tickets to the Auburn Hills games.

This year in particular, there is a huge advantage in being a #1 seed IMO. While there is parity, the general consensus is there are about 10-12 teams who could legitimately win it all. There is a large drop off after that. So as a #1 seed, we would play no better than a #4 in the round of 16. #4 seeds are hypothetically the 12th through 16th best teams in the country. I would rather play 4 seed Kansas St, OK State, New Mexico or Butler rather than 3 seed Syracuse, Kansas, Louisville or Georgetown

And I thought I would have to wait until Puerto Rico for that VCU match-up!  (No longer in NOLA, living in the great city of Richmond.)

That's a tough draw for the second round.

Nothing like making a grand re-entrance with the ole double post misetiquette (and good Lord, someone call the grammar police on that last bit of word smything!)

What is the point of these threads? It's all speculation and last time I checked, there are still four games on the regular season schedule and then we have to worry about the Big Ten Tournament. How about this? Worry about those games and not some stupid seed prediction.

That's a harsh bracket. VCU would be tough for a #8 seed. And Louisville and Florida are the #1 and #3 overall teams in Kenpom and that would be just to get to the FInal Four. Not sure that Florida is as good as kenpom thinks they are but they are still pretty tough and Louisville would be a really nasty team to have as a #4 seed. In theory we could play the #1, #2, #3 and #4 team on kenpom if the favorites held to form and we then had to play Indiana and Gonzaga. Getting no benefit out of the fact that New Mexico is a weak team for a #2 seed.

Agree that there are more tough teams in the West. But the actual path and 4 teams that we would have to play is tougher than what Gonzaga faces. If the bracket held to form. We'd play:

#164 Southern

#22 VCU

#3 Louisville/#15 Oklahoma State

#1 Florida

vs

#133 Long Beach

#37 Cincinnatti/#38 Memphis

#6 Wisconsin/#27 St. Louis

#13 Miami/#16 Arizona/#11 Ohio State/#7 Pitt

We'd face the tougher opponent in each round than Gonzaga would. Tougher than Indiana and Duke as well.
