Mich v Conn viewing for Directv customers

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

Okay, this subject has been beaten to death this week, but I figured I'd post this to help people out.

For DTV customers, not sure about the other providers you might want to check, you can buy the gameplan for $25.00 for the daily package, not bad actually, better than going to a crowded bar and most likely spending way more than that over a 3-4 hr period.

I hope this helps folks out there, good luck!

Directv still offers the ESPN Gameplan on a per day basis for $25 plus tax.  To avoid customer service who doesnt seem to be very familiar with their packages, just call 1-800-GET-SPORTS and go through the automated prompts for pay-per-view.  Just provide the Channel Number (793) and the automated system will ask you if you want to order the season or on a per day basis......pretty easy and you avoid the dreaded ignorant customer service personnel.

I've got a friend who has UVerse - do we know for certain if it's going to be on watchespn/espn3? I've got an Apple TV so if it is I'd like to just watch it that way.

I bought the full season Gameplan package this morning for $140.  You all laugh at me now, but when I'm watching Georgia Southern take on Prarie View A&M next month and y'all don't have it, I'll be the one laughing.

Not all DirecTV customers, just those (essentially) west of the Mississippi, right? I just want to make sure because last time I checked (and I can't check again right now), my DirecTV guide showed the game on ABC. I just wanted to ask to make sure they hadn't changed something again.

Your anger is misplaced.  The cable companies blocked that one.  DirecTV is not a broadband provider, so no cable / internet company (Comcast, Xfinity, Time Warner, etc, etc) is going to let you use their own infrastructure to by-pass their own products (that is no ESPN3 on their broadband unless your paying them for ESPN3).

At least that's their rationale.  I think its monopolistic.

5 years, this will all be moot when all channels will be apps on your Apple TV, Roku, or Xbox.  TV's are a changing, and some companies want to fight it and bleed you dry, which of course ends up bleeding them dry as customers go running to providers who you give you what you want and how much you want without having to pay for a bunch of other crap.  Its nearly a perfect reply of the music industry the last decade.  When was the last time you saw a Tower Records?

So to anyone who ordered the single-weekend package, how did you get it? I just called DirecTV and got a representative that said he had no information about a single-weekend package. The only option he offered was full Gameplan for $140. Is it available online? What exactly did you ask for? Did I get a dumb representative?

EDIT: Called again to try another rep, this one hadn't heard of single-day Gameplan either, but when I pressed him a bit he put he ended up finding a way to give me the game as pay-per-view for $24.99. So I only get the Michigan game instead of all the Gameplan games, but since I wasn't going to watch any of the other games anyway who cares.

After two very long phone calles to DirecTV I ended up with the same information you got.  $140 for the season and see it on channel 793. Or, $25 to see it as a PPV.

Hopefully, ESPN3 will work since I have a computer on the TV.  The ESPN3 website says I should get it.  However, I never trust that.  Seems a sporting event can be played in Mongolia and they find a reason to block me.

I have Direct TV & COX Internet (AZ)

This page falsely advertises a service that COX does not provide.

I have already spoken with two agents about this via chat & telephone.

The page URL above states:
ESPN3 on WatchESPN Included FREE with your Cox High Speed Internet subscription!
Now our valued Cox High Speed Internet customers have access to ESPN3 through your computer at Cox.com - 24/7 live, online sports coverage - at no additional cost

ESPN is denying my access to watch online TV.

Both operators said to watch ESPN3, the user must also be a subscriber to COX Cable TV.
That is not stated on that page, the page only states to access ESPN3 on WatchESPN:
1. Cox High Speed Internet customers have access
2. No additional cost

It does not state anywhere that COX Cable TV service is required, which is false advertising and I would assume illegal.
Bunch of Bums.

It worked but I have a high speed internet account plus their basic cable.  I agree everything I read did not state you needed a COX television account. Now, I don't have to go up to buffalo wild wings and watch this game fighting off a bunch of KSU fans here in KS! Plus, my beer at home is much better!

I just received a phone call from the Program Director at WQAD (ABC affiliate) in the Quad Cities.

As of Wednesday they had the KSU/Texas game listed. I called the station and talked with the PD (Mary Lingenfelter) who promised to look into it.. (The ESPN coverage map shows the U of M game should air.)

It has been corrected! Go Blue!

Paid $25 for the day & these early games are of poor quality.

I'm hoping that it's just these garbage games have garbage broadcasts.

Please, please, please broadcast UM in HD!
