for those who don't want to give the Freep the clicks...
"...a report from isportsweb.com said a source confirmed Williams was involved in a road-rage incident on campus Monday that included a firearm and resulted in a campus alert."

Yea! This argument again!
sitting in traffic, I understand the road rage. But you can't just start waving guns around at people. No matter how much they deserve it.
good thing it's not 'armed hatter'.
Michigan State must run a tough spring practice. First Kings now Delton Williams. These guys are looking for any excuse to get out of Spring Ball. Dont worry they will be all primed and ready to go for Fall Camp. Mark will give them a nice slap on the wrist and suspend them vs Southwest Mississippi University. They will be back vs Oregon. No worries. All kidding aside these student athletes need to shape up.
The latest standings that I can find are here on Reddit - LINK
As of the beginning of March, it was not MSU but it was a Big Ten school that was in the lead - Iowa. That is followed by a tie between Iowa State, West Virginia and Ole Miss.
Scroll down for some individual awards as well. A few individual managed several points on the scale all by themselves.
There have been a lot of arrests in just the last two days, so I would guess that's off by a lot now.
I like taking jabs at MSU as much as the next guy but didn't we just have our returning OL who was on probation get suspended for his second alcohol related offense?
Granted, Williams's crime sounds much more serious than Glasgow's but if we have another player get in trouble, I believe we'll be all tied up as far as offseason fuck-ups go. Knock on wood.
Glasgow had a drink. Williams was waving a fucking gun around at someone in public.
One of these things is not like the other.
...a discussion about relative villainy is going to be very useful. Im not speaking to you specifically, but I think we can all agree that our recent record is nothing to be proud of, and until we are squeaky clean (probably impossible in the current climate) it would be best to avoid celebrating the misdeeds of other programs.
...Pot v. Kettle. Review our student athlete issues over the Hoke era and you'll remember that more than once our former guys did much more than threaten violence.
to Mr. Clark I presume? Yeah, he did an awful thing too. He hit a woman. But even that is probably not quite as bad as threatening someone with a gun. At least according to the law. Domestic assault is usually a misdemeanor while threatening someone with a gun in public can easily be charged as a felony.
Any time you have a group of 115 people, especially testosterone fueled young male athletes, some things are going to go wrong on occasion.
Screw MSU, Penn State, OSU, and any team that isn't Michigan. When they do something stupid I'll point and laugh about it with a clear conscience. Just like they would do to us.

...but last I heard Clark was facing a fourth degree felony charge. Clark plead guilty to a previous felony charge and stayed on the team after a one game suspension. Our spartan friend is surely facing a felony and will probably have a meaningless suspension for some amount of out of conference play. I fail to see how any of this demonstrates our ethical superiority, or is anything worth laughing about.
You're conflating the action and the school's response. If a Michigan player or a Michigan State player does a bad thing, that's not something to celebrate or joke about. This kid is in serious trouble for doing an amazingly dumb and reckless thing. Michigan players under Hoke did amazingly dumb and reckless things.
What we CAN point at and make snide comments (and our rivals can as well) is the respective schools' responses. If tomorrow Connor Cook went out and got arrested for an epic jewelry heist, and he was back at practice the next day, we CAN chide Dantonio for that.
In my opinion, under Hoke the punishments generally fit the crimes. And with violent crimes, people were generally treated pretty severely. C'sonte York was gone. Frank Clark was gone. I don't see too many Glenn Winston situations on his record.

I am putting more weight on the Gibbons situation. Both the player and coaching/administration response struck me as disgusting and indefensible, but I recognize (but don't agree) with the reasons that others don't feel the same way.
While moral absolutism isn't en vogue right now, it's worth pointing out that waving a gun during a dispute is OBJECTIVELY WORSE than drinking alcohol. Unless you're drinking alcohol and driving. Or tending to a nuclear reactor or an oil tanker. Or juggling infants. Though even if you're sober, you probably shouldn't juggle infants.
Michigan has a history of either getting rid of those who commit crimes or making them jump through a lot of hoops to stay on the team. Meanwhile, we all know Sparty's history. A Michigan player who has a DUI has a higher chance of being kicked off the team and will, on the average, suffer a more severe punishment than a Sparty player who beats up a woman at a frat party.
What exactly is this based off? Are there msu players who beat up women that I am not aware of? Or are you just completely making up probabilities? Thought so

I agree people shouldn't trip getting on their horses about this, but there is a difference between a dumb college kid drinking while on probation (and yeah, blowing a .08 at 10 am is pretty bad) and waving a gun and threatening others in the area after a traffic stop.
This isn't some race for moral superiority, but after reading a couple of Sparty fans mouth off about Glasgow its kinda funny seeing them make an about-face on Williams.
Aside from Cook, isn't the rest of their offense stretched pretty thin for next year? Even without this happening? I know their O-Line has a few key guys returning, but haven't almost all their skill position guys gone out the door?
I'm sure Dantonio will find a way to plug the holes and make his offense at least serviceable, but this doesn't help.
No, man. I don't know why people have this notion. I don't know their depth at each position, but they've got several receivers back (Burbridge and Kings), their very good receiving / very bad blocking TE, 3 of their OL, and a very good QB coming back, plus this RB who's decent. With the excellent playcaling they've had, it's going to be a very good offense.
Their Defense may be vulnerable, given the loss of the DC and a couple DB's. But they'll have a pretty good DL (potentially very good). Probably OK LB's.
You're right that Cook and the OL returners are probably enough to still be a competent to good offense. But, if you assume Williams is gone, then they lose their top three rushers, their top WR, their second or third WR, one lineman and their blocking TE. Those aren't minimal loses.
If Kings also gets tosssed (highly doubtful), they would be losing every meaningful skill player but Cook, Price and Burbridge. That is nothing to sneeze at. Cook could see his production take a major hit, much like Jameis Winston did last year, and Cook is no Winston.
lol "assume Williams is gone". Not directed at you, but this isn't happening. He'll miss 1-2 games. I'd much rather have college athletes booted for intimidating with guns than getting drunk for St. Patrick's, but he'll plead that charge down and get off with almost nothing.
3 OL, a very good QB, a good WR, a very good receiving TE, and the second string RB? Given the QB and OL are very much overweighted in that equation (especially LT, and they've got an elite one), I'd count on them being very good on Offense.
Dantonio might not have a choice. Brandishing a weapon on campus might earn him an expulsion regardless of criminal proceedings.
I have no idea if that is true or not. Could be. Sounds like he does have a concealed weapons permit though.
They have something like 21 RS SRs this year. They are going to be ok. If you have a good OL you can plug and play a RB. They have an All American center in SR Allen, and JR Conklin is probably going top 15 at LT next year as an early entry. Kiper thought he could go this year and be drafted in the 1st. That's 2 NFL OL. Allen's younger bro played as a true freshman just like Cole did for us. He more than held his own just like Cole. There other 2 guys are sold mid level Big 10 starters.
Their OL has been a bright spot the last 2 years and overshadowed by the skill players and defense. Langford has a lot of holes and Cook barely gets touched if you watch their games.
They lost their best WR and RB - yes. But if you have a top end OL and a SR NFL QB you are way ahead of most teams. Burbridge is still a very good WR and Kings is a good player. Shelton is a good slot hguy. And their TE Price is very good actually. SR QB who is good overshadows a lot of losses, period.
Saint Dantonio
"Once he is out of jail he will be unsuspended"
Best of luck to Mr. Williams getting himself back on track.
Exactly. Quite a few Sparty dicks I know were having a field day yesterday, it's amazing how soon they forget their own program's history and how likely it was that it wouldn't be long at all before the other shoe dropped. But even I didn't think it would be that quickly!
The Sparty mindset is that Michigan is letting any player off easy, but that a Spartan could be found eating a bowl of infants and the only reason that it's even being talked about is the Michigan bias.
Ah, yes, the Blue Wall. I still remember the time they engaged in a witch hunt based on trumped-up, out-of-context statements and damaged MSU's program and coach. Oh, wait, that was a different school they did that to.
The OP asks "wasn't he in line to start?".
Word on the street is that Williams is the leading candidate to lead at RB, but only when MSU is in either the shotgun or pistol formation. He is more of a straight-ahead runner with a quick burst, rather than having a slashing style.
/ taps microphone, asks "is this thing on?" ... hangs head /
It was excellent.
