Miami (YTM) Grad Transfer OT Sunny Odgowu Visited this Week
Reported late last night by Sam Webb and Josh Henschke. Odogwu started the first four games of last season at RT, but then suffered a "season-ending ankle injury," per Miami's official site. He also tore an MCL in 2015, but if he's healthy, looks like he'd be a great addition. He's now apparently off to visit UCLA, per Sam.

I heard Sam talking about him this morning. Why isn't he in the NFL or staying with his own team? My first thought was starting tackles never get traded in the NFL and good tackles usually don't transfer after their fourth year in college of they can contribute to their current team and there was no change on the staff.
“Sunny and I had a good conversation, and he informed me that he feels his best opportunity to get the most playing time would be at another school,” coach Mark Richt said in a statement released by the school. “Sunny has been a great teammate and leader for this program, and we will miss him.”
lost his starting spot due to injuries/coaching change...time for a move
Is that you, Melania?
Betamax also came first and was better. Oh well.

Hoping Drev showed him a wad of hundreds and a magnum condom, this kid is ready to plow!
Edit: I vastly overestimated how well this board knows Always Sunny quotes/enjoys Frank Reynolds' character.
Sounds like a great guy, and he would definitely fit a need.
Ouagadougou is the capital of Burkina Faso (formerly known as Upper Volta).
We were so snotty.
Sam was convinced on WTKA this morning that if between UCLA and Michigan, he would definitely choose Michigan since he does not have any west coast affiliations.
Have you been to UCLA? Not sure you need any "west coast affiliations" to choose it. But fingers crossed.
4-8? Did anybody mention playoffs?
why do you think I've lived here for 12 years?
Does he have any southeast Canada connections?
To be fair, it's difficult to have a really competitive shuttle time when you are personally transporting other people on the line from place to place, but even at that, if you can do that and still competently do the workout, I can't think of a reason you shouldn't be on the line....or in some cases, BE the line.
Right tackle is the single biggest question mark and position of need on this team. Guessing Odgowu would compete for starting job from Day 1 and if nothing else, provide much needed depth to OL.
It's starting to get almost as bad with losing players to them as it is with Ohio State. Gettin old for sure.
6'8 and 315 lbs? Do want and please come.
Here's a Reddit thread discussing his decision to leave. Not a ton of insight here, but they all seem to agree that he's a great guy.
Would love another experienced guy to enter the competition at RT. If he were to join, we would have some much needed depth at the position between JBB, Runyan, Filiaga, Ulizio, etc...
He's definitely going to UCLA. But if he's smart and pays attention, he should see that Michigan will open some doors for him for the NFL if he's looking for that path. At least as a free agent.
He's definitely gong to UCLA ... unless he isn't.
Quoted on front page post, implying he's all the Sun he needs:
“I hate the sunshine. I love midnight. At night, my energy comes out the most. That’s who I am. I’m Sunny. And I like riding bikes and doing stuff that people don’t normally do.”
The land of eternal night ... or at least it seems that way some times.
I'm currently in China. The land of eternal air pollution.
Onwenu & Odogwu. I don't know how it would play out on the field, but I like the sound of it for the right side of the OL.
I wonder if he met big Mike on his visit. Bet they would love playing next to each other on the right side.
The Great Wall of Nigeria
We're going to build a big beautiful wall, and it's going to make Penn State and Ohio State pay!
He looks like he would provide some great experienced depth and another lottery ticket is always a good thing.
I would be a little surprised to see a nattive Nigerian who played college ball in Miami come to Michigan, but it would be a happy surprise.
From everything I have read it seems like everyone really admires him for his positivity so I'm rooting for him regardless.
Right, because UCLA doesn't have very good academics...
Ummmm you know UCLA is an academic peer with Michigan, right?
Also they play in the PAC-12, so it's not like he's going for a step down in competition.
Thus me responding to both of your points in terms of academics and level of competition.
If you think Jim Mora and staff is in the same league as Jim Harbaugh and staff (especially recently upgraded OL staff) for that, then your critique stands. I would find that surprising, but there are several folks here who appear to hold that position.
I still wish him well, and believe that if he is into hard work, he will choose UMich for its current football culture, and enjoy his double reward.
