MI / ALA ticket strategy

Question for those in the know -- any idea what the best strategy is for getting tix to the MI/ALA game?

I'm thinking, as of now, that it'd be best to just fly down there and try to get them the day before the game or on gameday. My thought is that if anyone is looking to unload their tickets the day before or the day of the game, it'll be a lot tougher since the Texas locals won't be all that interested in purchasing. So, I'm thinking of just flying down there without a ticket and trying to scavenge something. I heard this worked for the Sugar Bowl when prices and demand were both high.

Thoughts?

Regular tickets are supposed to be mailed out the week of July 23rd, I imagine SRO will be the same.

It all depends on how badly you really want to go to the game.  If money is no object, the after market ticket houses usually have tickets, but you'll pay a lot for them.  Or if you know any disabled Vets, they can usually get some access to tickets through some of their organizations.  Its the way I was able to go to the Sugar Bowl....

Doing the exact same thing. We have hotel/plane tickets/rental car...just need tickets. I figure worst case scenario (which would suck) is to find a bar and watch it after participating in pregame activities around the stadium.

like in the Empire Strikes Back and have patience.   Shit will come up and people will have to bail and will look to dump their tickets (not everyone is a blood sucker looking to make cash).  hell, the last time UM went to the Rose Bowl, I sold extra Rose Bowl tix on the day of the game to a UM fan at face.  In fact, I just received an email that had a UM fan selling tickets at cost because he couldn't go.  Shop around and you'll score a deal.

Seems like prices will get higher and higher on Stubhub, etc until a day or two before the game. If you're okay with paying more than face, it might be best to snap up some SRO tickets on Stubhub before they get any higher.

At the Sugar Bowl there was a greater supply than demand for tickets.  The timing was bad for a lot of people. There were several thousand empty seats, so tickets in the not-so-great seats were cheap and plentiful.  I had Alabama fans sitting behind me who were already in N.O. and picked up cheap tickets.

I do think there will be greater demand for this game, but all the SRO tickets will eat up a lot of the demand at the lower end of the scale. In the days leading up to the game, I expect there will be some price drops on sites like Stubhub, but it probably won't be like the Sugar Bowl where tickets (in the cheap seats anyway) were going for below face value.

Don't forget that when the Sugar Bowl was played, you were looking at the week after the Christmas holiday vacations, all two weeks of them, were over. This game is Labor Day weekend with Michigan not having started school yet, with several days to sober up and return to Ann Arbor.  The game is also a huge national game played deep in the south.

I might be wrong, but last minute tickets for this one might be an expensive get.

I looked at tickets on stubhub and the cheapest I found were going for $260, and they're up  around sec. 440 (same section i paid $85 for the Lions/Cowboys game last year). Fuck it though, the next time they come down here it's going to be for a GD NC in a couple years.

there are lots of reasonably priced SRO tkts for sale as well as Vivid Tickets why wait when u can get a seciured ticket..Ive used both and bot are reliable and reputable..I got great seats to the Sugar Bowl ( In fact best seats Ive ever had) from Vivid

wont know for sure until a bit closer, but i might have 2 club level to sell (wouldnt rip ppl off, would sell at/near face value)... i'll post something closer to if it turns out i have extras.

A lot more investors bought up tickets for this game than true fans, and their goal was to turn big profits. I'll just go to my local sports bar and watch the game, or just turn the game on at my own house! Even though it would be fun to drive down to Dallas for the game (only a 7 hour drive from where I live) the ticket prices are just too high and not worth it when you total up all expenses a trip like this would incur!
