MHSAA Football Final - BBR / Muskegon

Submitted by Black Socks on

I watched the BBR / Muskegon game today that featured a potential Michigan QB prospect - Alex Malzone.  He was very impressive at 20-24 passing 263 yards and 5 TDs.

Malzone reminds me of Chad Henne with a slightly weaker arm and more mobility.  He is very much in control of the offense, calling audibles on many plays; impressive for a HS QB.  His weakness may be size.  He does not look to be the 6'4 prototype.  It will be interesting to see if he gets a UM offer with his play.

Anyone else watch the game?  Thoughts?

PS - Go Blue today!

Not sure I agree with the henne comparison. Henne was A pretty thick kid with a rifle and no mobility. Malzone looked kinda small, average to good arm strength and good mobility. I do think he is the better prospect than Campbell at cass tech tho.

Henne was a better athlete than people give him credit for. He chose not to pull down the ball and run very often, and he didn't have much lateral mobility, but the guy could actually run in a straight line pretty well.

Anyway, I don't see the Malzone/Henne comparison at all, but to each his own.

Sort of OT but what are the chances UM recruits two QBs in 2015? It will be Bellomy's senior year and Morris will likely be a junior with Speight being either a RS freshman or a true sophomore, so it seems like depth could be an issue.

Ishpeming defends its crown from Detroit Loyola today in a rematch from last years championship game (Loyola is now without Malik McDowell).

I've heard rumors that Ishpeming's QB, Alex Briones, has garnered some interest from MSU. I'm not that surprised, the kid is 6'2" 215 and a fairly good athlete. He is one to keep your eye on as he did earn AP All State honors and this game could help him land a D1 offer.

Go Hematites!

My Negaunee Miners couldn't get past Ithaca...but that is quite a football program they got down there.

You guys need to turn on FSD right now. People were saying (again) that Detroit Loyola was going to handle Ishpeming. Alex Briones is looking great, has thrown 2 TDs so far, Ishpeming is up 14-0.
