MGoWeather for Saturday

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

In honor of Military Appreciation Day and as many of you know from previous years; my daughter is S.Sgt. USAF and is is a Weather Forecaster.  She is stationed at Warner Robbins AFB just south of Atlanta.

Her mission is to forecast and relay weather to all Military Aircraft east of the Mississippi River to Greenland.

I asked her for her Official USAF Forecast for Saturday's Game.  Her Commanding Officer is a huge Georgia Bulldogs fan so he does not mind her providing me with the forecast.

Her offical Forecast for KARB is:  Tailgating;  Overcast 70F and the ground will be wet from the overnight rain but you should be dry. Kickoff; 70F Dry.  Halftime: 75F and 50/50 chance of rain.  Post Game Tailgate 78F and 50/50 for rain.  The greatest chance of rain is after 3pm.

So it looks like rain gear is in order for Saturday.  I will have my full crew at my tailgate minus S.Sgt MGoKid as we do every year to celebrate her service.

Thanks to all who wear the uniform.  It is not easy being a Military Family but we can all share the love that is Michigan Football.

70 degrees and 0% chance of rain in my basement/man cave. There is a 50/50 chance of smoked pork butt (Stubbs included) and a 50/50 chance of brisket. 100% chance of beer. Damn, I miss Ann Arbor.

Enjoy the game and thanks to your daughter for her service!

Not bad weather at all. My daughter's Destroyer is in the Persian Gulf, currently in the vicinity of Bahrain. Today the forecast calls for widespread dust. 0% chance of rain the next 10 days, with sun and high temps around 105. I know she would trade for AA weather in a heartbeat.

I won't be at this one (other commitment on Saturday, but post-game), but at least I can watch the game and not have to worry about the whole "Why don't you mow the lawn?" thing because it may very well be too wet to do so anyway. That's what Sunday is for anyway, at least when the Lions game makes me frustrated enough.

Heard there are ass-kicking warnings posted for Ann Arbor starting at noon on Saturday.

EDIT:  And thank you, your family and especially your daughter for the sacrifice and service.

Not to be that guy, but she is really putting all her eggs in the GFS basket. The NAM reflects best chances of rain between 5-8 AM with the upper level system pulling off to the NE by kickoff, leaving behind just showery type precipitation for the afternoon. Basically the models are not in consensus at all right now.

I've spent a lot of time there over the past 10+ years. No doubt, your daughter is familiar with Owens Boarding House - an absolutely awesome, homecooked lunch place just off base. Best peach cobbler I've ever eaten.

Also, the Cuban Island Cafe on Hwy 247 just south of the base about 5 miles is absolutely incredible. One of my favorite spots in the region.

Please extend to your daughter my thanks for her service to the country.

Then you were in the area to possibly have tried Jim Shaw's in Macon (incredible fried green tomatoes). Around the '08 timeframe, there was a bbq joint across Bass Road from the Bass Pro Shops in Macon. The woman who cooked and owned the place made the best ribs I've had to this day. I asked her whether she'd ever considered entering a competition and she made a face like it was the craziest thing she'd ever heard. I'm also a big fan of some places in OKC. I spent a lot of time at Tinker between 2008 and 2011. I love Brahm's for the burgers; McNellie's for the beer and atmosphere; and several other spots around the city as well. I love the Nichols Hills area of town, and stopped every morning at the Starbucks on my way over to the base. OKC grew on me as you can probably tell.
