MGoTableNumbers

Submitted by emozilla on

Hey MGoBlog,

Well, I'm getting hitched next month and since my fiancee and I are big Michigan people (we actually met because of the Shane Morris concussion fiasco, but that's a story for another time) we decided to have some fun with the wedding. Instead of traditional table numbers we're numbering all of our tables after great Michigan football players.

We're boxing up all the pictures to take to the florist so I thought I'd snap a picture and share it with you guys. There's also going to be a bio at each table about each player. Thanks to my brother and best man (you know him on here as Qmatic) for picking out the players and writing the bios!

P.S. We realized some of pictures didn't print -- most notable Desmond. This will for sure be rectified before the big day!

I didn't want a cake. Our catering comes with a kick ass dessert table. My dad flipped a shit and said we had to cut a cake so I delegated cake finding to him.

He sent me a few normal ones. And this one. So this one I picked. When he found out, poor guy was like "I was joking."

So it's in all white frosting to keep everyone happy that it's "bridal" enough. And my dad is secretly pleased that he raised one of three kids right.

Here is the list I came up with for the players for the table number:
1 AC
2 Woodson
3 Marlin Jackson
4 Harbaugh
5 Peppers
6 Wheatley
7 Henne
8 Avant
10 Brady
11 Wistert
14 Griese
15 Breaston
16 Denard
20 Hart
21 Howard
22 Law
23 Perry
24 Woolfolk
25 Shazor
26 Lewis
29 Hall
32 A Train
45 David Harris
48 Ford
51 Everitt
55 Graham
72 Dierdorf
76 Hutchinson
77 Long
80 Branch
81 Steele
86 Manningham
87 Kramer
88 Butt
98 Harmon

Had to leave Bennie off because we couldn't find a good picture of him wearing 47 (in hindsight I could have done JMFR). Looks like they turned out well. #TheyFoundQLove

So in 2009ish we met the first time. I was a smitten 19 year old who soon after we started dating left to study abroad in Poland. Emozilla was a 21 year old dude who was having none of the long distance bs. So after like 2 months he broke up with me. I was pissed and defriended him.

Few years later we still ran in the same groups amd he friended me again on fb. I was in another serious relationship and was just whatever. Not a big deal I'm not holding a grudge amd we have a LOT of mutual friends.

Fast forward to Shane Morris and Minnesota weekend. I posted a really long rant about how disappointed I was in the lack of regard for plater safety. I was pissed at the endangerment of a kid and laid it on a little thick. Emozilla was at the game with Qmatic and when be saw my rant went back and watched a bunch of replays. He messaged me and was like fuuuuck. And we've talked every day since.

The first few weeks was only about Hoke and Brandon and Harbaugh. But by the day of Harbaughs presser, I was again smitten and that's the day I told him I loved him.

Luckily we scored a 3rd season ticket this season so there will be no BIL vs. Wife brawl.

marriage is awesome.  properly done it is the most sustaining, enriching, and fun thing you can ever do.   and from the stuff you two have shared here, you guys are two peas in a pod and that is a great place to start.

It's amazing that something good could come out of terrible events like Shane-gate and Branon-gate. Great to hear it!  Best of luck.

First of all, congratulations. I'm guessing boredom will never be an isuue at your home given you have a topic ripe for discussion at any given time.

I think this is a great idea, obviously unique - I've never seen anything like it and provides your guests, many of them MI fans themselves, with topics for disucssion setting right in front of them, thus minimizing the "awkward" period often present if people are meeting for the first time.

That diabolical side of me just kicked in as I, without thought, while writing why this was such a cool idea, and it is, was wondering if it would have been possible, while at that age, to ingratiate myself, significantly enough, to an OSU couple for them to allow me to help with their wedding. I was thinking how much fun it would be to purposely take OSU greats and distort their bios to things like Archie Griffin, for example, "lead the team in rushing for three years averaging 1.7 yds per carry and 33 yards per game and whom many consider the greatest player to never have won the Heisman." All is fair in the uncivil war.

But back to reality and the here and now. Sure your special day will be a blessed affair and all will have a wonderful time. And any couple with the creativity to come up with an idea like this is obviously going to enjoy a wonderful lite togethter, devising ways to keep the magic intact through the years.

GO BLUE!!!!
