MGoSoftball: Cheer for Bama or LSU?
So who to cheer for tonight? I think we win either way... but want your thoughts on who you want to be our next opponent.
I am going for LSU in extra innings where the star pitcher had to pitch 10,000 pitches. Something about playing the same team more then 2 times in a season gets me leary.

Les Miles vs. ASA Hall of Fame Stadium outfield.
PPV should be better entertainment than Mayweather/Pacquiao.
Cheer for Michigan.
It doesn't matter who wins that game. Both teams will be extremely tired.
As long as Michigan plays one pitch softball, Michigan will win.
Not sure I'd want to see Alabama again. Don't be deceived by the score, that was the tightest 5-0 game I've ever seen.
The game turned on only two pitches - the first HR, and the Grand Slam which was misplayed by the right fielder and should have been an out. Other than that, it was pretty even.
It's not like Alabama would have no shot against us.
No matter the opponent - it doesn't look like they are going to get to bed before 4:00 a.m. EST
UCLA vs. Auburn is headed to the 10th inning at 11 p.m. EST
The next game may not begin before midnight!

I'm rooting for Alabama. They've had to play twice today, so another game possibly two tomorrow is a lot of softball. They'll be gassed.
Also they're the lower seed and we're in their heads. We're the better team and they know it.
We're transparently better than everyone except Florida. Root for continued extra innings.
correct?
Both Michigans' and Floridas' opponent tomorrow would have to win twice to advance.
thanks
Just noticed in the boxscore of UCLA vs. Auburn
Ucla has 17 hits compared to Auburn's 9...And Auburn has 3 errors...yet the game is tied.
Carda is SUPER wild. 12 walks.
Alabama is a slightly better team IMO, but Michigan has had their number and Osorio may be a bit worn down by tomorrow's game(s). LSU tends to use more than one pitcher so fatigue isn't as much of a factor with them. I don't really have an opinion, but I'm happy about how late these games are going.
Also, I want to repost this here because it's kind of amazing:
Worth noting that a future wolverine, Meghan Beaubien, carried her team to a championship today by pitching two perfect games. Word is she struck out every batter she faced in the final, against a team that put up 20 runs in the semis. I think that makes nine no hitters for her this season.
Meghan committed to Michigan when she was fourteen and will play her first game at Michigan in 2018.
Can't find any articles yet, but here's a tweet from the team's account:
Today's wins were very special team wins, but it was a tremendous outing by our sophomore pitcher Meghan Beaubien. 2 perfect games!

Where does she play?
St. Mary Catholic Central in Monroe, MI.
In other long ways away Softball stories, just to illustrate how fucking stupid the B1G Tournament rotation format is, the freshmen on the Michigan team that will host the B1G Tournament are currently in 4th grade.
The B1G Tournament is rotated....sigh.....by alphabetical order starting with Nebraska in 2013 *facepalm*.
Next year it will be at Penn State. Michigan gets to host it in 2024. We're all gonna be so old by then. I'll be pushing 30.
Why is a rotation "so fucking stupid" ?

I don't know man. Did you see Auburn? Them southern girls man.
Bailey Landry -- LSU caliente!
As good as these softball players are...I'm kinda amazed at how wild some of the acclaimed pitchers can be...Those riseballs never seem to be strikes
The other thing I'd add is that if a batter makes good contact, the ball is going out of the park at a much higher rate than another pitch. If most pitchers could pick a pitch to be elite at it would probably be a rise, but by the same token a lot of batters want to hit a rise.

Aren't we 3-0 vs. them this year?
You don't want your opponent to be too familiar with your team.
As familiar as they are with us, we are with them. Plus they'll have played two games today, need to win two against us tomorrow, and we've proven we're the better team.

Alabama is starting Littlejohn. Not ideal for Michgan if Bama makes it through and Osorio gets the rest, but it's not like they've needed any advantages before this. Wonder if Murphy starts Littlejohn again vs Michigan if she does well, considering how well Michigan has hit Osorio...
Would you consider Wagner or Betsa our #1 pitcher right now?
To my eyes, Wagner is pitching better based on her last two games that I have seen.
Nothing against Betsa...we're lucky to have 2 quality pitchers. Wagner just seems to be sharper IMO -- better control.
Hutch has favored Betsa through most of the season. Gave her the start in the first and third games of every conference series that I can recall, as well as the first two games of the conference tourney, regional, super regional, and world series.
That doesn't mean she thinks poorly of Wagner. They've both been very, very good. Betsa of course didn't have a good start vs UCLA, but same thing happened vs Georgia where she was also replaced by Wagner. Betsa stepped in to close that game out after Wagner got into trouble late, and then opened the WCWS with an amazing performance vs Bama. So she can bounce back and I know Hutch expects her to do so.
Bottom line, they will both have their opportunities. And we are obviously lucky to have them.
Edit: Also want to add that even though Betsa got the first two starts of the conf tourney, Wagner started the championship game and was fantastic. Hutch definitely trusts her in big moments.
I prefer to play LSU so I'm liking what I'm seeing right now.
The 3-0 record against Bama is a suckers bet. I don't doubt we can and would beat them. But no way I want to play a quality team a 4th and possibly 5th time.
I disagree...the familiarity narrows the talent gap.
I'm a genius so you will have to trust me on this.
