I've been frequenting MGoBlog for about 3 years now and was an MGoBlogVoyeur for a couple of years prior. As users came and went during that time, occasional introductions were made amongst the user folk hereabouts. I've noticed a bit of turnover over the last few months and thought it may be interesting for everyone to share a bit of background. So, if you're inclined...

Age?

Occupation?

Location?

Alum?

Most MICHIGAN thing you've ever done? (funny, memorable, etc.)

Me;

On the precipice of 50.

Marketing Director.

Born in TC, but live in MN now.

L.S.A. Class of '88.

The most MICHIGAN thing?  I committed a foul against Gilvani Johnson in an intramural basketball game. The foul prevented him from completing a slam dunk. This turned out to be my team's sole victory in an otherwise not so closely contested 119-42 loss.

Alum: Microbiology B.S. '09; MPH '11

Most Michigan Thing: I did a lot of weird and crazy Michigan fandom-type things in college, but the one that stands out the most was giving a speech at a pep rally on the Diag the week before The Game back in 2007. I like to think I got the crowd going, and I got the bonus of meeting Jamie Morris as I was walking to the mic.

Stuck in Ohio

May 6th, 2015 at 3:40 PM ^

Live in Youngstown, OH during the week and weekends with my wife in Portage, MI.

Occupation; retired Funeral Director and I now work as the CFO for a privately owned ambulance company and group of funeral homes in greater Youngstown.

Not an alumni, but 4 generations of my family are, including my grandmother who was in attendance at the dedication game in 1928 of the Big House, my parents, my brother who played football for Bo and his son who was in the marching band....I hope that means I'm not a walmart wolverine. have had season tickets for 29 years.

Most Michigan things I've done was making sure the Victors was played in church at my grandmother's funeral, moving to Ohio which is full of goddamn buckeyes and keeping my block M license plates on my cars while I live here.

At this point, I feel like you all know everything about me. I'm 49, a former advertising copywriter/associate creative director and one-time pastry chef after a stint in cooking school in my 20's. Now my job is raising teenagers while I run my very small vintage furniture business. I live in Evanston. My most Michigan thing is probably to never let anyone forget I went to Michigan.

That's awesome that you live in Evanston. When I went to the M00N game this year I loved the houses surrounding the field, and I'd for sure consider living in Evanston later in my life. Great little town, and it helps that it is so close to Chicago as I have extended family in Chicago.

Occupation: Sports Marketing, Account Manager

Location: New York, NY. via Toledo

Alum: No, UConn

Most Michigan Thing: I dunno. Whenever they play in MSG or Brooklyn I get tickets behind the bench. Went to the @UConn football game and stood in the rain and 40° weather for all of it, was the equivalent of staying for last years Utah game.

VP Sales & Marketing for a Medical Device company

Medina, Ohio (just south of lovely Cleveland)

Yes Alumn (LS & A Class of 81)

Most Michigan Thing: At the 97 Rose Bowl game I stayed at the same hotel as the Washington State Alumni Association.  When they had their pep rally the leader had to read the words to their fight song from a card as he led them in song.  I stood up in the middle of it and yelled "PUT THE CARD DOWN AND SING FROM YOUR HEART" to which he replied - "Oh, like YOU know the words to your fight song by heart."

So in front of about 500 WSU Alunmi I stood on my table at the Irvine Embassy Suites hotel, dragged my brother up with me, and we sang, as loudly as we could, the Victors.  And I didnt need no fucking card to know the words.

Age: 24

Occupation: Student, Summer Camp Director

Location: Detroit, MI right now, Munising, MI for the summer, Ann Arbor, MI for the fall and beyond

Alum: Albion College undergrad, but I-School Class of '17! Starting in the fall! Very excited!

Most Michigan Thing:

Boring but serious answer: Attend most home games from 2000ish-present, including Carr's final OSU home win, Henne to Manningham, Braylon Triple OT, all three UTLs, Fan Endurance Badge Northwestern Game, plus the buzzer-beating FG in Evanston. Travelled from Albion for many, many games during my own undergrad career. Only 45 minutes, but, you know, I did it.

Answer I like better: Held hands with my friend Geoff for the entirety of the Kansas overtime, because we had held hands for the Trey Burke Shot, and it worked. There was a lot of yelling involved.

My friend and former employee is starting the I-school masters program in the fall, too. I would like to believe my letter of recommendation helped him get in, but that's pretty vain of me. Back when I was a grad student in AA, it was called "Library Studies". I dated a girl in the masters program and asked her, after you memorize the Dewey decimal system, what's left to do? I guess there's more to it now, it actually looks like a pretty cool program.

Age?  Late 50's

Occupation? IT Professional

Location? Northville

Alum? LSA - Economics

Most MICHIGAN thing you've ever done? Two things: I gave Tom Staton a bloody nose in a CCRB pickup game with a no-look, behind the back pass.  I got hammered on one of the band busses returning from the Wisconsin game and slept in a parking garage with my uniform on and my spats on my head like a hat - observers thought I was dead and were close to calling the police.

Most UN-MICHIGAN thing you've ever done? I married a Buckeye

Director of IT for an asset manager

Chicago

Not an alum, but the hubby is

Most Michigan thing: We go to every home game (try to get there to see team warm-ups, The Band take the field, intros...and stay until the team leaves the field). Also have "GOBLUE" Illinois plates. I had my picture with Coach Carr once.

The hubby has done numerous Michigan things. I keep trying to get him on MGoBlog to share his tales. He's been going to Michigan games since he was about 6 or 7. Dan Dierdorf used to play catch with him and his friends when they all lived in grad student housing.

Though he'd probably think his most Michigan thing is brainwashing his wife into such a dedicated fan.

The details of my life are quite inconsequential. My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Some times he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy, the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical, summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds, pretty standard really. At the age of 12 I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen, a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum, it's breathtaking, I suggest you try it.
