MGoPraise: Who is/are your favorite current poster(s)?

Submitted by profitgoblue on

Okay, so I missed out on Nosce Te Ipsum's "Posters of Yore" thread (http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/posters-yore#comment-1877663) about the most missed old-timers over the weekend and I'm feeling a little bummed out about it.  So I decided that it might be fun to have an MGoFeelGood moment and throw some praise around:  Who is/are your favorite current poster(s) and for what reason(s)?

I'll refrain from revealing my list because of my high-ranking position as moderator - wouldn't want to feel guilty for sending one of them to Bolivia for disagreeing with one of my opinions.  Plus, I like to keep my favoritism on the down-low.  But, since I didn't get to participate in Nosce's thread on Saturday, I will just say that I miss FormerlyAnonymous and Geaux Blue, two of my favorites and my MGoMentors.

(P.S.  Whoever lists me as their favorite will get special treatment and maybe even extra MGoPoints in return.  Kidding, of course.  But not really.)

Chunkums, Don and Diabeetus come to mind. I miss Big Boutros, a lot.

Hell, everyone.  I'm a taker, not a giver on this site- appreciate the free flow of info here, regardless of who's posting.

If there is one thing about this blog that truly boggles my mind, it is the love for Magnus.  A good poster?  Sure.  An expert on recruting?  No sir.

Fair enough.  I just feel that his opinions are so incredibly generic and without substance.  If there is an OL committ, it's always "well, he needs to put on some weight, lower his pad level, and work on his footwork."  I don't read anything from Magnus that I couldn't get from any other poster on this blog.

I can see your point, to an extent.  However, might be that those are very common things that OL recruits need to work on, to use your example, hence they get repeated.  I can tell you right now you couldn't get those same comments from me and have them be creditable in any way.  I get the feeling Magnus spends a fair bit of time watching film, maybe goes to games, and sifts through a lot of information.  I, and most other people, just don't have that kind of time, or inclination.

I thought this was supposed to be a thread where people say nice things about each other, not where someone posts just to bash another poster.

When it comes down to it, there's not much "substance" to recruiting.  It's a bunch of big dudes running around hitting each other and trying to get a ball past a line.  If you're looking for the meaning of life in football recruiting, then you're looking in the wrong place.

Have a great night.

Rereading my post, it was more douchey than I meant it to be.  I actually really enjoy your posts, it just seems that they sometimes lack detail.  You know more about recruiting than I do, but I wish you would demonstrate it more by elaborating on your scouting reports.  They frequently come across as very ESPN-ish, aka, very nondescript.

Btw, do you have some sort of radar for when people post about you?

Sorry.  I should have offered you a hamburger.  Sometimes I just <smack> don't <smack> think <smack smack>!

EDIT:  C'mon Yost.  I'm just f'in with ya a little.

EDIT:  ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED??   <insert that GIF, I can't>

Eh.  Making fun of someone's personal beliefs.... some of my more lower brow work.  Don't post personal info, I say, unless you're prepared for it to become ammunition.  And then when it does become ammunition, don't give a shit when some nameless faceless k1400 is a dick about it.

Option two makes for less interesting times though, amiright?

I have nothing against vegans, I just don't taking anything said or read in this type of medium very seriously or personally.  I mean... Blazefire called me fat.  If I think about it too much I'm gonna feel bad.

So, all one needs to do to be "liked" here is post or reference memes that were flooding 4chan 6 years ago (and Reddit 6 months ago) ? Oh, forgot to add that points seem to double if a UM reference can be added to them. That is the general rule I've gathered reading this thread, correct? If so, I'll happily stick to not being liked or standing out in any way here, haha. 1-99Chan are just too much to visit now and Reddit is like that teenager who calls PS1/2 games "old school" and speaks of them like only he and a special few know about them. A "so late to the party they are sure they started it" kinda site, haha. Kidding aside, did I read that someone hasn't heard of Reddit by now and another asked people not to tell him for apparent shock value?!? Haven't slept in 2 days so I may be off but that made me laugh in its stupidity. I mean my 10 year old Nephew goes on there. If you spend even 15 mins a day online and don't know about Reddit you should first be happy and then log off of AIM and join 2007. *Android App Negbomb guaranteed rant over*///**How is the weather in Bolivia this time of year?**

Uhhh what?  If you had even remotely coherent syntax and diction, perhaps I could understand your point.   As it is, it appears as though you are criticizing mgoblog, and for that, you can fuck off.

Syntax? Answer: Android app. Also, I LOVE this blog because of replies like yours! Yet, you can also go fuck off (or yourself or whatever) as your ignorant reply to an OLD blog joke obviously went passed you. That said, I like everyone here! Even you (fucking yourself or not, lol)!

contributor, and needs to be recognized. Justingoblue is also incredibly even-tempered and positive, brings a nice spirit to the place. Also a shoutout to all the people who report on hockey, soccer, women's sports, and lacrosse.

I'm taking the chance you're not being totally sarcastic (it's hard to tell with you sometimes), but that's really nice to hear from you and MGlobules.

Speaking of MGlobules, I'm glad he said that just now. As time has gone by and I've paid more attention, he's clearly a very smart guy who doesn't usually post unless he's got something to say (and knows the material). Confession: I didn't really feel that way at first, but I'm glad I've taken the time to notice during the last year or so.

side of sports, and I often have a contrarian/minority take on the issues, so I don't always expect my posts to elicit lots of love. But I appreciate your comment. A lot of people here, including myself, have mellowed over time. I had a couple of run-ins with m-wolve before I began to appreciate his contribution.

I agree.  On one hand, the site has much less viscious content with the CC posts fading into the past (though the hurt feelings do still pop up from time to time), content which was kind of interesting/exciting.  On the other hand, the senior extremists (me included) have definitely mellowed out a bit and began to appreciate former adversaries a lot more.  That CC period was definitely a very, very bad thing for the Board (and obviously Michigan fans in general).
