MGoPraise: Who is/are your favorite current poster(s)?

Submitted by profitgoblue on

Okay, so I missed out on Nosce Te Ipsum's "Posters of Yore" thread (http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/posters-yore#comment-1877663) about the most missed old-timers over the weekend and I'm feeling a little bummed out about it.  So I decided that it might be fun to have an MGoFeelGood moment and throw some praise around:  Who is/are your favorite current poster(s) and for what reason(s)?

I'll refrain from revealing my list because of my high-ranking position as moderator - wouldn't want to feel guilty for sending one of them to Bolivia for disagreeing with one of my opinions.  Plus, I like to keep my favoritism on the down-low.  But, since I didn't get to participate in Nosce's thread on Saturday, I will just say that I miss FormerlyAnonymous and Geaux Blue, two of my favorites and my MGoMentors.

(P.S.  Whoever lists me as their favorite will get special treatment and maybe even extra MGoPoints in return.  Kidding, of course.  But not really.)

I like Magnus' straight forward attitude towards the recruits, not only ours. He gives honest opinions and doesn't say every recruit is an All American in the making.

This topic actually made me realize how much I hate myself. The fact that no one has listed me as their favorite poster yet, has really caused me to question whether I have any value at all. MGoBlog, I need MGoHelp, I am in great need of reassurance and MGoSelfEsteem.

I deeply regret opening this page.

You must appreciate the value of perspective. Positive is only positive relative to negative. Without some of us for contrast, all these favorites would be just another fish in the pond, another post in the great blog of life, or just another fry in the onion ring basket.

I'm touched. I really am. But I can tell when someone is blowing smoke up my ass. Particularly when you have 120 times the MGoPoints that I do.

But I'll play... MGrowOld is most certainly one of my favorite posters. You're wife has landed you conversations with both Mattison and Hoke. Doesn't get any better than that.

but I'll always love the group of posters who were active in fall of 2010. Those were the guys (and gals) that got my interest level for MGoBlog up to eleven, even the bad ones who ended up with Bolivian vacations and bans over the "CC" era. Anyone who was around for bowl season 2010 as well: with the random bowls and more random conversations, and the drinking threads of that era, which pretty much blend into the bowl threads in my recollection.

Since I won't completely cop out with a "you know who you are" list, I'll mention B-Nut-GoBlue and a2electricboogaloo for their great taste in music. Also, profit deserves some non-sarcastic love; he's been great while I learned the moderating ropes.

Wasn't that also the time where the site was acting all screwy, so sometimes only people on the App could create threads (the App which was like a month old), and at times the only way to even post was on the App. So you'd either have like ten guys who could post, or other times we'd just have open thread after open thread ..."early morning open thread....late morning open thread....lunch thread....early afternoon...etc etc to late night....late late night.,..really late night....why the hell are you still up night?...." Because a handful could start it, but then everyone could post in it.

in 2011, but your memory is better than mine is when it comes to stuff that long ago on the site.

For another trip down memory lane, I'm pretty sure my first MGoDebate was with you, jmblue and MGoShoe (I'm less certain about Shoe being part of it) about players getting money on uniform sales. I remember being simultaneously convinced that you guys were wrong and that I was in way over my head.

And then exploded in January. I remember as being around that time just because I think people were pissed that it was pre and during the whole "process" and. I was one of the few tat could make (or comment) in threads. Torture, I'm sure. If you were arguing with me you were probably right. If you were arguing with jmblue too you must have been mistaken.

I love our Mods for their willingness to wade hip deep through childish bullshit without hip-waders.

I love Brian, Ace, Seth, Heiko and ChewerD for THE CONTENT.

And I love each and every one of you for being such special little people. And a select few of you for your great butts.

Oh, and MGoBrewMom for THE BEER. And maybe the butt. I don't know. I've never seen it. If she's not offended by it, then the butt as well.

Thanks, 'Shoe. That's high MGoPraise coming from you.

And I'm not just saying this because you named me, but you and jmblue are my favorites. I appreciate how you two often act as voices of reason around here. There are plenty of other great posters here—too many to name—and that's one reason this is such a great site.

And I have to agree with profitgoblue on formerlyanonymous as someone who's missed.

...jmblue and formerlyanonymous. I appreciate the way jmblue is willing to take on folks who are going off of the deep end and challenge their silliness. While we're at it, I also like the way Don handles himself and what he brings to the board. I appreciate M-Wolverine for much the same reason.

As for you, I gues it's a mutual admiration society then. I like how you have carved out a niche covering women's basketball and now baseball. I hope you'll consider doing pieces on other non-rev sports. I also like how you never fail to provide facts with references. I've never seen you respond sarcastically or negatively. I can't say the same for myself. I'm not always able to restrain my snark or on occasion, anger.

I ranked you on the last one of these before you left as the most levelheaded poster on here. Never too far in any direction, other than reason. Nothing has changed. It was sad when you were gone. All the plants died. jmblue is maybe the only poster who regularly makes me feel stupid. Guy is whip smart, and reasonable about it. And while I'm on guys I've put on past lists, Purplestuff is still a favorite. Just show you can disagree 50% of the time with someone, and still have a lot of respect. I think he's amazing in how he can be SO locked into defending al, things Rich Rod, yet still be completely fair and defend things Hoke is doing well with equal strength. There are a lot of fair in the middle people around here, but I can think of anyone who can balance te extremes like he can. That, and we both have the same kinda sick pushing good taste on here sense of humor.

North of the border this thing called the crtc legislates a certain minimum amount of Canadian content. In that spirit I'd like to commend: blueinyarmouth, clarkiefromuknowwhere and jimlahey for keeping the canadian content up to standard. Who'd I miss?

I haven't been around posting long enough to get a good feel for a big group of the posters... but I do like the posts by Magnus. Realist and informative.

And the person who only posts in gifs. They are priceless.
