MGoPoll: Do YOU want to see Maryland in the B1G?

I apologize if there is a real "poll" feature that I've overlooked. I'll just count the answers instead.

I've been going back and forth so I've been wondering what MGoUsers think.

We don't know about Rutgers or Georgia Tech or Chicago or whoever else is rumored...so I'll leave this to JUST Maryland.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plan and simple. Yes, No, or Don't Care. Do you WANT to see Maryland in the B1G Conference?

---Yes

---No

---Don't Care

“True loyalty is that quality of service that grows under adversity and expands in defeat. Any street urchin can shout applause in victory, but it takes character to stand fast in defeat. One is noise — the other, loyalty.”

No.

With all this talk about increasing revenues from the Big Ten Network, I think people are forgetting the changing world we live in.  What happens if, in say four years, Google TV or a web-based television platform gets launched successfully?  In my opinion, the television sales format is entirely outdated and could easily be reworked by a new provider.  Why pay... $60 a month for 250 channels, when in reality, you watch 25?  Why not just pay $1 (or more to ESPN, less to Science Channel, etc) to get exactly what you want for $25?  Boom, there goes the entire Big Ten Network because only households with sports loving men, generally aged 16-65 are going to subscribe.

I'm no expect, but it just seems very shortsighted to put all out eggs in one basket and take these crap athletic schools in the hopes of some immediate payoff.

Plus, there Lacrosse program can be a flagship, along with our program of course, of a new B1G LAcrosse conference.

Add Georgia tech and Virginia tech! Unrealistic I know but can't I dream?

No.  I was only on board with expansion when it was something we would have been forced to do to keep up with the national landscape.  Now that the expansion merry-go-round stopped, we could afford to be choosy and only accept no-brainers.

Maryland, Rutgers, Georgia Tech...Not no-brainers.

How confident are you that "expansion merry-go-round stopped"?

Seems to me, like there could be a bit of pressure for conferences to go to 14 and then to 16.

I mean... that isn't an argument for Maryland itself.  That is an argument to bring in some other team to force divisional realignment.  Bringing in Towson would:

-Increase the geographic footprint to Maryland

-Bring in TV viewers from Maryland

-Get the Big Ten Network in Maryland houses

-Force divisional realignment

-TOWSON BEAT LSU (through one half) THIS YEAR!

My vote is for Towson.
