MGoJordan Diamond update

Submitted by Brian on

An update to my previous assertion that Jordan Diamond was likely to pick Michigan: because this is 2012, that has changed to total confusion and uncertainty. Reportedly Auburn is back in the picture and Diamond is utterly undecided between them, M, and Arkansas, with playing time a huge consideration.

I consider the announcement tomorrow a total tossup. Is this the opposite of insider information? Kind of. Sorry.

he wants to commit to Auburn, but Auburn has told him that they are only taking one more O-line commit and are waiting on Diamond's decision before they would take Kozan's commit.  You need to consider the possibility that Michigan is NOT the kid's first choice.  I see Kozan choosing Michigan only if Diamond chooses Auburn.  If Diamond picks anyone other than Auburn, Kozan goes to Auburn.

Diamond has been Blue this whole time, he is just playing out his recruitment for the documentary crew that has been following him. If he would have ended his recruitment at the BBQ over the summer, that would have been a boring film. Instead, he has drawn it out until the last possible moment, keeping everyone guessing the entire way. Now that people assumed Michigan was going to be the pick on Friday, he has made it seem as though they have faded so people will be suprised when he does, in fact, go Blue. If the whole football thing doesn't work out for him, maybe his true calling is as a director.

I'll say it: if a 4/5 star guy doesn't look at our depth chart and the fact we only have 2 other guys who will compete with him at Tackle and not think he will get early playing time, then he's scared of competition.  I can't possibly imagine the other 2 schools presenting more of an opportunity to see the field as a frosh/rs frosh.

Now, I'm sure he is very competitive.  I, like some others, think he knows exactly where he is going and is playing this up until his announcement later today.

One positive in our favor - I believe someone said that Chris Bryant will be at his ceremony today.  I know they are close and their families are close as well, so Chris may go regardless of his choice, but his attendance keeps me hopeful.

<br>I know it's bleacher report, but still. Maybe Hoke's Alaska or Texas comments refer to that? Wishful thinking. But I'd love if we got him and jumped Ohio in the recruiting rankings and they whiff on Diggs. But I fear the opposite is more likely to happen...sigh.
