Aboot time someone posted this, eh?
Had been waiting all day checking mobile app. Finally got home from drinking all day and went on laptop to post.
Hopefully, our Canadian MGoDenizens are enjoying the 146th anniversary of the enactment of the Constitution Act, which I believe is a major constituent of the Canadian Constitution. Have a happy and safe holiday on the other side of the Detroit River!
Growing up in SE Michigan, watching Mr. Dressup & Hockey Night in Canada from a young age, I've often felt more kinship with the true North, strong and free than with many parts of my own country. Happy Canada Day!
Come on now, no love for the Kids in the Hall?
I feel the same way growing up in western michigan and visiting Traverse City commonly. My high school and community had great hockey programs, turning out a few NHL players.
Seems most Canadians, at least those in border towns just cross the border to shop on most of your holidays.
yes that is a very popular activity on holidays but seeing as I just purchased a house and hae many expenses around my home I figured itd be best to not shop. Looking forward to August 31... My first year with season tickets!!!
Just figured out a few years ago that I sit next to a guy from Windsor in the Big House. Of course, the word "aboot" was the giveaway. Or was it the last letter of the alphabet?
Happy Canada Day, Bob!
Among the many things I miss about A2, CBC is definitely on the list. Happy Canada Day, all.
Which is kinda funny as I have finally got dish network set up at my house. Was dying without ESPN and BTN. The days of Driving 45 mins to a bar to watch games is finally done. And I hate CBC with the exception of 2 shows
The lines to come into the US to buy cheap US stuff was over an hour long almost constantly Friday and Saturday. Shop till you drop Canadians
Made a special trip to the beer store to restock the molson
Happy Canada day. May your days be as sweet as only the sweetest of maple syrups.
We're heading down to visit the wife's family in San Diego just after Christmas. And we will be bringing maple syrup for everyone.
I've had some real good times in Windsor. Thanks Canada!
Drinking a Labatt Blue in honor of Canada.
I haven't really had a chance to yet. Now that everyone else is in bed, I'll have a few. Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians. And I will give an early Happy 4th of July to all my neighbours to the south.
Go Blue from BC, Sleeman in hand, life is good.
Yeah!! Nice to here of a mgoblogger way out in bc.
from the other extremity of our great Country, here in Nova Scotia!
Are there any other Michigan fans in western Nova Scotia or is it just you out there by yourself?
When I was in middle school and first started following UM sports I pulled some friends in with me, but now I would bet none of them follow UM anymore. Most people in this neck of the woods don't follow any NCAA sports at all because it is so hard to get them on T.V.
I started following them because my uncle got his phd at UM back in the 70's and his fandom rubbed off on me pretty hard. So I guess now that he has moved back to good old Nova Scotia that makes two of us now!
I have always considered myself half-Canadian. My parents had a cottage in Brights Grove, Ontario (just outside of Sarnia) and my mom would pick me up from school the last day of class and we would drive straight there and would stay there until Labor day weekend. And my dad would come up Thursday night and stay till Monday morning (he was a Dentist) so for almost four months of the year I was a Canadian!
Still say "zed", "sedule" and "garaage" from time to time with the occasional "eh" tossed in for good measure. And I think that Canadians are the nicest, friendliest, coolest people I have had the pleasure of knowing.
Happy Canada Day!
described my childhood too. Did that for 16yrs. straight then off & on for the last 30.
1/2 own the cottage now.
My paternal grandparents were Canadian, so I still have some "taint" ;-P
and a HUGE Michigan fan! I'm going to have an Alexander Keith's IPA and count down the days till College football season. Go Blue!!!
Windsor is more American than most states north of us.
Have an old schoolhouse up near Grand Bend. Haven't been up yet this summer but will be there next weekend. Canada has a special spot in my heart.
Does this mean I have dual citizenship? Anyways! Happy Canada Day!
Actually, that's an interesting question that sort of depends upon whether or not you've turned 28.
Just got in from spending my first Canada Day in the capital. Ottawa knows how to party! Great fireworks at Parliament and some cool pubs in the Byward Market.
Here in Yarmouth crappy weather is more the norm than the exception, and for some reason Canada Day is rarely nice. I remember as a teenager how badly I would want it to be nice because our biggest beach volleyball tournament was always on Canada, but it was rarely nice then either.
It has been raining here for almost 2 weeks straight with the occasion sunny break here and there and on Canada it dropped like 50 mm of the wet stuff. Can summer please start here already!!!
Thanks for the well wishes from all my mgofriends below the border. Hope you all have a great 4th of July!
Got a shit ton of rain here in Windsor, Ontario yesterday too.
in a secret location of course.......first thing I did was wish my family and Yankee friends a happy Canada day - they did not seem to be as excited as I hoped, of course it was before 6am - maybe my timing was off..
