I smiled at this trail, EastCoast, I feel your pain.  For the life of me, I can't figure out when its ok to correct grammar or make suggestions.  I have been on the giving and receiving end of corrections, and been negged when I complain about it not being a "graded term paper" but been negged when also correcting someone in the same fashion I was corrected.  One day, people love it, and appreciate it, and the next you get negged to eternity..  I guess its just timing.

I certainly see both sides.. 1. Its a blog, who cares about wording and punctuation as long as the point is understood. but..... 2. There is a line where its like, "C'mon man, can you just self-edit your post one time prior to posting."

The fine line of blogging!

Here are some keys:

- Ability to understand what you mean quickly.  A lot of us are sneaking an update-look while at work.  It helps to know what you mean without having to hover over your post for half a minute while the boss walks by.

- Ability to understand what you mean on a mobile device where the font is usually really, really small.  Run-on sentences and not using paragraphs will get you killed.

- Not blatantly embarrassing the rest of us.  Typos and grammar slip ups are a time honored part of blogging.  But the obvious stupidity that we make fun of . . . "for all intensive purposes", "pre-Madonna's" . . . that kind of stuff, we draw the line.  It makes it so much harder to make fun of RCMB when we do that.

I think this is pretty accurate. Speaking as a former English teacher and magazine editor, correcting typos, misspellings, etc. is for me a simple reflex. So when participating in these discussions, I've had to re-train myself to "put my red pen down," as it were. Nailing somebody for a simple grammar mistake doesn't do anything but piss people off and make you look like a dick. In other words, it makes you "that guy."

Having said that, people who write stuff like "for all intensive purposes," "pre-Madonnas," "could of gone better," etc. are just inviting abuse. It would be wrong of us not to accept the invitation.

Sorry if I came on too strong.

I be no good at english either, so I am a little sensitive.  Plus sometimes on the iphone or ipad it is so hard to go back and correct.

You are an unusual poster, in that, you admit you might have been wrong and actually feel bad.

You are a good man (or woman!)

There are a few unspoken rules around here that you have to learn, that exist for no other reason than sometimes MGoBloggers -- while overall, as far as Internet communities go, ranks far above average -- are in certain conditions just as capable of being groupthink jackasses as any other.

I think it stinks and it's embarrassing, but neither can I change it so just go with the flow.  I also have to periodically remind myself to not take the good for granted because again, while it's not fun when MGoBlog goes all YouTube on you, it doesn't happen nearly as often or with as much froth.  But yeah, it happens.

His neck is so thick.  I can't wait to see what he can do in 2015.  He has been my favorite player since I saw his high school highlights.

Good luck Des!

Interesting hearing about the student teaching work he's doing. That's gotta be a really long day.

Wonder what it would be like to have a current M football player as your teacher in high school?

It seemed that Hoke/Mattison were always trying to find reasons to have others (especially Bolden) take PT away from Morgan.  Morgan is a big (apparently now bigger), experienced classic middle linebacker.  Put him on the field in the middle and watch him work.  He is going to have a great year.
