Congrats and this is why I and many others follow this site. Nothing out there is better than MGoBlog. Go Blue and in DB we trust.
MGoBlog heavily cited on ESPN's insider
the world wide leader my ass...
Granted $0 would probably be too much to pay for an ESPN Insider subscription but I'm curious as to how much a subscription costs nonetheless. Anyone know?
It's $35 for a year. I don't use it at all for college football recruiting or anything. More for breakdowns of NFL, NBA and MLB. John Hollinger and Buster Olney are well worth it if you're into those sports as much as I am.
and insider came with. I don't really read the CFB one much, but I also like the MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL breakdowns. I got a deal where i think it was like $15 a year for the Mag, and insider comes with
buy ESPN the magazine next time it hits tanga.com or whatever for $4/yr. use the subscriber incentive to be an Insider. that's what i did.
i got in on a few of these, and probably have a subscription for the next decade. The insider rumors are terrible for College Football. Albert Lin is as useless as Chris Martin.
Many thanks to you all.
The reality of the 21st century. Sites like this that are solely dedicated to one team/school are often more informed than the MSM.
Brian runs the raddest site around, but this should be more of an indictment of ESPN and an indication that they aren't worth the money rather than grounds for praising mgoblog.
Hilarious punching bag... when ESPN doesn't need them.
1. Set-up exclusive sounding "Insider" portion of website
2. Don't hire any new reporters to actually do extra work, just copy and past the work of other journalists.
3. Charge people for your copy and pasting.
so I can pay ESPN to read MGoBlog for me?!?
Tell you what. I'll undercut them by 50% and give you the first week free.
Why are we discussing the current coaching situation with LC? I understand he was a "Michigan Man" and our last succesful coach but why do we need to convince him of the hire whoever it is?
Who said anything about needing to convince him??
He was successful here for over a decade. Surely his input would be valuable...
the swells at ESPN best be hitting the Beveled Guilt button repeatedly if they're culling info for their Premium info
I feel like a junkie on crack! Please, DB, announce something soon or I'll OD!!!
I was hoping that these 'factions' would fall away after Rodriguez left. We need to all support the new coach, whoever it is.
Agreed that is what I meant in my previous post in this thread. We need the people who are close to the Michigan program to all get behind this new HC who ever it ends up being so we can hopefully unite the fan base and give the HC the support he needs to turn this great program around.
Hey! RR is gone, lets all get together!
Except for the ones that were promoting some other agenda. I suspect we can go to the Pic-A-Faction Rack as soon as a coach is selected and choose our new factions according to our view of the world. Said view probably won't match the true reason for the existence of any given faction, but it will make us feel better, each and every one.
I wonder how this teams view of the world and Michigan will differ from teams gone before. Not important? Each and every member of this team will influence incoming teammates on a peer-to-peer level.
Yeah, look at all those negs. Well, the article is out. Go ask Denard, or Molk, or Schilling, or Martin how they feel about being torpedoed by former players who want a return to their glory days. I suggest we retire the banner, because we will be perpetuating the lie every time the team runs under it.
in Hilton Head and Lloyd Carr has a vacation home there does not mean LC is involved. I fully respect the rights of us on MGo to make some guesses but it is even funnier when the media bites. Keep it up everyone.
so sad. this is what the Internet does, renders info useless. who can tell what is real info and what is garbage. I am reminded of the NYer cartoon, where a dog sitting at a keyboard is saying to another dog..."On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog".
so our unsubstantiateed speculation is now getting reported to paying ESPN INsiders as if it has merit?
I would rank mgb's unsubstantiated speculation more highly than that of a lot of ESPN's "insiders." Blogs in general tend to be local in nature and are much better leveraged for "ear to the street" coverage than the national monoliths.
and the other full-fledged authors because I have read some whacky sh*t on this blog in the last week. Frankly, I'm concerned about the mental well being of at least half the MGo commenters. Myself included, of course.
Good spot, funny to see
So ESPN wants to charge you to read stuff that Brian and TomVH write for free on this site? Insider my ass. They should just head over here and click on the "Beveled Guild" button.
They just rape and pillage them without mercy. They're journalistic vikings. From Connecticut.
bold is used for emphasis
that maybe all these planes with their fancy paint jobs and rumors of LC running a Bed and Breakfast are all an elaborate shell game in advance of some sort of bombshell coaching announcement? In my scenario, DB asked LC and Steven Ross to play along, and now he cackles with glee every time ESPN swings and misses, "Dance Minions! Make Michigan the top story every night, not the MNC game"
or am I having paranoid delusions of grandeur?
Are the Gruden rumors true? There was a tweet and I don't think it is still around.
Yah, I thought the same thing. In fact, I laughed out loud when I read that we were citing our own sources and that were definitley interviewed him. Good to see the rumors haven't slowed down one bit. With this Stoops post up on the board, ESPN must be giddy that they get to introduce another ludicrous interview to the world.
Yeah. That was not our rumor but some person's tweet. I don't think Brian has put any rumors out there from his sources. If Gruden turned out to be not true, I don't think Brian would want that coming from the blog, since it was not.
I actually think it would be funny if Brian put up a hoax post just to see ESPN running it as the top story for 6 hours ala the pre-firing of RR. Those guys looked like asshats... Until the next day.
Lloyd Carr comes out of retirement for a three-year contract, Brady Hoke comes in as DC and coach-in-waiting, Loeffler is OC, and Fred Jackson resumes calling each new freshman RB "the perfect combination of Wheatley, Biakabatuka, and Hart."
The bluehairs will be enormously comforted by the knowledge that each night, LC sits by the fire reading Kipling.
The only downside is that Mike Debord will be the new strength coach.
I am new but I believed you up until the last sentence.
I still believe him. :)
Don, I wouldn't complain about Lloyd Carr at all.
Cue the video to 1:25 for the greatest moment in Michigan football history's modern era. Enjoy everyone.
Absolutely agree. Lloyd has done a lot for us and let's remember the good. Until someone has something solid about what Lloyd has done to harm the program, I just want to remember the good times. He was a great man for his players.
this was already posted but can't find it. lot of positive comments in that thread
It's like I always said; Brian is the Bob Ufer of this generation.
Congratulations to Brian! The next thing you know there will be kittens on the set of GameDay.
