Mgoblog (Brian) Twitter rant

Submitted by winterblue75 on

Looks like bowling didn't go too well

mgoblog @mgoblog 26m

I'm just done with people who are mad at me for reacting how I do to Michigan football. If you don't like it, I don't care

mgoblog @mgoblog 26m

For years I let people talk shit to me because I felt some sort of duty to them because they'd been around a while.

mgoblog @mgoblog 25m

That was a mistake. If you are surprised that I am emotional and moody at this point you are too stupid to care about.

mgoblog @mgoblog 25m

I have taken epic tons of shit for being in a bad mental spot this year; and somehow I managed to feel bad about that.

mgoblog @mgoblog 24m

No more. I'm done taking shit from internet anons because I'm not happy about losing to OSU 9 of 10 years.

mgoblog @mgoblog 24m

I don't owe you a damn thing. Read it or don't.

mgoblog @mgoblog 3m

most people are not reacting like that, but shitheads are louder. this is going to have an effect on MGoBlog.

mgoblog @mgoblog 2m

Your point total is irrelevant to my decisions. If you're making our lives shitty, you're gone

mgoblog @mgoblog 2m

This whole season has been 50% nightmare team, 50% nightmare community. I can fix half of that.

by Brian's comments then.

i interpreted his comments to mean that, as a reasonably emotional person, he (and this is where maybe i'm confused--but i take it to mean the board as well) should be able to vent without caring about other people being upset with whatever comes out.

am i like a million miles off?

heat for Hand going to Bama and now Peppers saying he's taking other officials in case.

I am guessing this site is an annoyance to the department because they can't control the content. I am also guessing Brians emo posts are being pointed to for keading masses and the fringe over the wall and thus at least fertilizing the Hoke may be fired rumors.

While there may be some truth to the fertilization theory, I don't want a slappy site. I was educated at Michigan and thus enjoy the Brian / Space Coyote debate. If we just had Space Coyote, my own inner debate would not be fed, and down here in NC there are not many others to debate it with.

"...unless it's Brian."

I mean, it sounds like he's defending venting and negativity. Not complaining about it. (Unless it's directed at him...then it's an obvious problem).

Is that he's done putting up with people who disagree with what he posts as being too negative, whiny, moody, etc., and who manifest that disagreement in a generally crappy manner. You'll notice that despite their schematic disagreements, Space Coyote is still around, as are a few people who have echoed SC's arguments. Meanwhile, those who respond with, "F*** YOU, you don't know shit about football, you're just a blogger" are vanishing daily.

I have no problem with that at all, though I question whether he'd be better in the long run with letting it go.  My respectful and friendly message to Brian is this:  A hell of a lot of us want to know what you think about Michigan sports.  We wouldn't read what you post if we didn't.  That doesn't mean we always agree with you, but we always respect you...Short version:  You don't need to defend yourself, old bean.

From a business perspective - their clicks pay just as much as those from Mr. Positive.

I think one needs to seperate their personal feelngs from their business dealings.

The guy running the hardware store doesn't care whether you act like jerk, as long as it isn't driving away other customers. All he cares about is whether you're money is good.

and will Brian and the mods be responding in kind? You, Seth and the boys can be pretty acerbic in your replies to posts you disagree with. Are you not going to allow those volleys to be returned?

Sounds like a line too fine to walk, and I'm guessing one or several of you will be made uncomfortable by purge's end.

But also makes your interpretation of his reaction completely opposite of what he actually means. He's not decrying negativity and venting; he's endorsing it. And any negativity and venting that agrees with him. The only "negativity" that he thinks makes the blog a worse place is that directed at himself. And he's right; for himself that does make the blog a less comfortable place. But not at all in the way you were trying to explain it to TaiStreetsismyHero. He's perfectly ok with the stuff that makes the blog a worse place as long as it is on the same page as him.

Which you can point out is his right (duh), but doesn't make it right.

Venting is fine. Without it, the Michigan Blogosphere wouldn't have existed for broad swaths of this year.

What ISN'T fine is people attacking Brian, the other staff, the mods, other posters, or the Queen of England because they're pissed and looking for a target. Plenty of people on here get testy after losses (/raises hand), but some get vindictive and mean and trolly and fighty when they do so, and that's not cool.

As for the "it's cool as long as you're on Brian's side" thing, I've personally banned numerous people for going too far in arguing with others EVEN when they were arguing Brian's 'side' of something.

Since YOU implemented the "new" policy of no more just "F this" posts, the site has taken a big step back in the right direction. It's that level of posting that has sunk things, not the disagreeing. I'm not sure that's what Brian meant considering the tone of his tweets...but I do know he's helped a great deal by being good at surrounding himself with good people.

Though you're completely wrong about one thing: the Queen of England sucks.

I suppose one could vent on Facebook or Twitter, but where, except a U-M fan site, is someone going to get an audience of like-minded individuals? I don't know about you, but my list of FB friends include quite a number of MSU and OSU grads. Venting on FB is inviting the opposite of sympathy.

I agree with you.  I'm having trouble being that upset about today.  Our guys played well enough to win and would not be pushed around when everyone said that it was going to be a blowout.  We should focus on all this and on the fact that our QB played on one leg and had probably had one of the best games for a QB in the history of the Game.  Focus on all that.

Thiiiiiis is my biggest issue with the 1-10 argument.  You can't blame this regime for the failures of the last or the ones before that.  Yeah it sucks overall but it has nothing to do with how we should judge the coaches.  You have to compartmentalize your disappointment in this situation and let the coaches have their fresh start, which has now yielded a 1-2 record including one completely unexpected game for the ages with a very young team.  Hoke is transitioning the team in year 3 rather than year 1, and you can't punish him for that based on what the previous regimes did.  He's 1-2 not 1-10.

and expect the program to put the right AD, coaches, players, facilities, and other resources in place to beat Ohio and MSU in addition to ND, win Conference Championships, and compete for national ones on a regular basis.

Great companies perform well over time even with top management and key personnel changes. (e.g., the team that beat us yesterday).

Ryno2317

Agreed.  Yes, Hoke is 1-2, however, all losses are not created equal.  He could easily be 3-0. We almost beat them last year without our RB or QB.  We will be fine.  Stay positive.  I remember when they were 2-10 against us.

I'm new (posting) to the forum, but have tried to keep it as positive as possible. I vented a little on Dave Brandon after a few drinks at the conclusion of the Iowa game, but I definitely agree we should all try to keep it positive in here. Now that I am taking time to post instead of just lurk, I am going to try to make a positive impact on conversations and try to stay out of the weeds.

Also, looks as though 'zona was stopped on three different 4th and 1s in that game. Weird. If only Rodriguez had a big, bruising mooseback to just plow ahead and pick up the first down. You know - like Vincent Smith.

Knocking the wisdom of running him into a stacked line on short yardage plays, which Rodriguez used to do.

(Note: Borges also did this in The Game 2012, which caused me to throw a fucking hat at the TV, scream "IT'S FUCKING RODRIGUEZ FUCKFUCKSHIT" or some such like a lunatic, and throw my Gorgeous Al Borges t-shirt into the trash.)
