MGoBlog Avatar Tourney?

Submitted by Bosch on

As some of you may have noticed, there is a little basketball tournament going on right now.

It seems appropriate to suggest that the MGoBlog community should have a tournament of our own.... specifically, an Avatar tourney.

I don't suggest this because I think my Avatar would fair well. As far as the "eye candy" Avatars go, mine is one of the least impressive, especially from the perspective of those who do not understand the significance behind my Avatar.

It is just that I know that there are some pretty good ones out there and I think it would be fun to pit them up against each other, tournament style.

This would take the initiative of someone with a little more programming savvy than me to organize and host. If someone took on such a thing, they can and should set up the tourney their way. With that said, I will still offer one suggestion.

There should be a minimum number of MGoPoints established for your avatar to be considered, only because the tourney would mean more with Avatars that are recognizable.

I contemplated posting this as a diary, but I figured I'd let the responses dictate whether or not it is worthy. If the idea is not well received, I can let the post quietly die. Without further ado.... Good idea? Can it be easily done?

PS: SPARTY, NO! (just witnessed the Aggies take the lead for the first time)

I'm not sure, but they might be talking about this broad:

But of course they could be referring to this beautiful woman:

EDIT: Damn, I must have been drunk when I posted this, this was totally supposed to be a reply further up, you know, where people were actually were talking about MGoFootballCampGirl.

Not too long ago, someone started a thread about U of M myths.

I shared my experience with an urban legend that went around when I was a student; My sophomore year, there was a rumor that Niki Taylor, the supermodel in my Avatar, was enrolled as a freshman. As ridiculous as that was, it was still worth verifying. And I did. There was indeed a Nicole Taylor enrolled but, alas, it was not her.

After that thread, I switched my Avatar to a photo of Niki. No one else gets the significance, but that isn't my intent. It helps remind me of the time that I knocked on some girl's door after a night of partying because there was a chance that she was a supermodel. I chuckle every time I think of it.

I'm sorry if the story isn't as good as you were hoping. Believe me.... I wish I could have told you the version where the rumor was confirmed.

When is that not funny?

(And I think I was the one who mentioned there WAS a girl on campus who looked like Nikki, perpetuating the rumor).
