An MGo Request

Submitted by mikoyan on

I'm not sure how to go about posting this but I will start here since I'm pretty sure I'll get an answer.  One of my friends has a son that was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer last year.  It seemed like things were going pretty well for him and then I saw a recent post on Facebook that it may be going the oher way.  Anyway, I was wondering how I would go about getting an autograph.  I would like to get one of my Denard pictures autographed.  So where would I start?  I think that would be an awesome gift for him.

I sent an e-mail to the Athletic Department.  If I don't hear back, I will try calling next week.  I've been meaning to do this for a while.

Thank you guys.

contacting Motts and seeing if there is a player relations person there since i'm sure most of the team(s) donate some time there. They could possibly inform you of a time and place or a place to send the items to get what you need. My prayers are with the kid, here's an interesting TED talk I saw last week on cancer and the video specifically talks about treating brain cancer. Here's the link: http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/bill_doyle_treating_cancer_with_electr…

As others have said, try the Twitter thing. One word of advice is you might want to volunteer some proof of iliness up front. A lot of players get asked to sign something for a sick kid, only to see it on EBay a couple of days later and they complain about it. Failing all that, try sending a polite snail mail: Denard Robinson c/o: Brady Hoke Schembechler Hall 1200 S. State St., Ann Arbor, MI, 48109 So few people send snail mail these days you have low odds of getting lost in the shuffle.

Sorry about your friend's son. Not sure if your friend is an NHL fan but I'd be happy to get you some personalized autographed player stuff, with some inspiring message or something along those lines. Let me know.

Honestly that is really sad to hear.  For a while the doctors thought my son might have a brain tumor and he had to have all these tests for about a month and it was truly the most terrifying time in my life.  I can't imagine what I would have done if something like that had actually happened to him.  It's actually getting me choked up just thinking about it again.  I really hope this little guy pulls through.

When you do get a hold of someone, you might want to ask for it to be personalized for the kid. That makes it cooler for the kid and destroys any retail value. Good luck to you, but especially to your friend.

Good luck on getting this request fulfilled.   That's a terrible situation for your friend and his family.  Hopefully, this can provide a little bit of happiness.

I can think of nothing worse than a sick or injured child.  Here's hoping that things turn out as well as they can and that the athletic deparment comes through for you as I suspect they will.

I'm sure if Hoke hears about the request you will get an autographed picture...at the least. You guys might recall that he sent a hand-written note to a ND fan who had a heart attack while in attendace at UTL. He wished him health and expressed his pride that the Michigan fans and health care professionals were able to save his life.

This is the kind of thing that Hoke and probably the rest of the athletic dept. doesn't shy away from. All part of what makes the Michigan family so TREMENDOUS.

Well, I sent an e-mail to the Athletic Department and I got a response today.  Basically they said they were reviewing the donation program for issues.  They would be implementing an online donation system within a couple of months.  So I'll see in a couple months.

In the meantime, I think I'll send him a couple of my pictures of Denard.
