(stuck in cbus commuter traffic) I thought Urban was pounding the podium, only to find out later that was when he dropped his papers.  Biggest excitement of the evening were the calls for EMS, then The Fan guys broke in to comment on things while they waited for that to be sorted out.  They, too, were asking why he hadn't yet mentioned Michigan...which he was just as they went back to the Fawcett Center.

Twice, he claimed he learned his lesson and won't "overwork" himself anymore. He claimed that he can balance family and work now, that he won't get too overzealous at his new job

Gator tears are filling the streets here in Florida. Not a fan of Urban but it's entertaining to watch this meltdown from my front door. Also, dude seems like a douche to me. I'm gonna say he downtown poundtown'd that grad assistant back in gainesville.

It's glorious. For as obnoxious as that fan is I'm not sure there's a larger fairweather fanbase out there. The chatter about UF Football is all but dead down here. The UF/FSU game was almost under the radar to anyone not affiliated with the schools.

I live in Florida, too, surrounded by Gator fans. It's been a bit surprising to realize just how fair-weather many of them can be. I'm good friends with a family of previously hard-core Gator fans, and this season they don't even watch the games. It seems like a lot of them have just given up on the team... and yet they're upset about Urban Meyer "giving up" on them. Go figure.

I've not noticed the same thing about Gator Fans around me....but there is always that bandwagon faction here in Florida that went from the U, to FSU, to UF depending on who was dominant. Any ways, I remember in 92/93 stores acrossed the street (High St.)  from campus in Columbus displaying/selling Michigan gear in their front shop windows. During the Cooper years, Ohio fans in Florida were very rare...now they are everywhere.

Ah, the rumor going around was that he was sleeping with a grad assistant in the athletic department. His wife found out and gave him the ultimatum between his job or his family. Seems clear which he chose. The consensus down here was that he used his medical history as a scapegoat to cover that whole mess up. It was primarily word of mouth so I don't know if you'll find a legit article about it. I have seen it mentioned on this site a few times though.

On PTI just now, they had a topic about Urban Meyer becoming the new coach. They start the 1 minute 15 second segment by Wilbon calling Urban sneaky and even lying for the last week about the job. Then they spend the next 1 minute and 10 seconds talking about ... LSU and Bama and the general college football landscape. Ohio getting what they deserve, lack of respect.

Urban Meyer: "Remember when I boned that chick in Florida and my wife made me quit.  That won't happen again."

Press: "How do you know?"

Urban Meyer: "You live here. You've seen the girls in Ohio."

Honestly, the number one thing Les Miles has going for him at LSU is that Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino and (previously) Urban Meyer were such colossal douchebags that it was fairly easy to land recruits who would prefer to be around somebody fun who doesn't think the football program is all about himself.

Though Hoke and Miles are two very different people, I think Hoke's personality and being a players' coach is the number one advantage Michigan will have in recruiting in the years ahead. Well, that and Greg Mattison.

My god he's putting down the B1G right now. Bud, there are numerous other ways to say things - like "I'm going to make it my business to do everything I can to make the Big 10 the greatest conference in the country."

But... Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

Things we've learned: 1.) He coached in the SEC. 2.) Go hard. Whatever that means. 3.) Gator for life? Doesn't get it. 4.) Most importantly... His wife's name is Shelly.

This pretty much says it all:

"Congratulations for Ohio State for their new hire. However, I have been waiting for over 2 days to watch the Purdue vs. Coppin State game. Can’t you reschedule our game so we can watch that, too?"
