Meta: Your account page loading?

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

I already emailed Brian, but I was just curious if anyone else was having problems loading their account page when clicking the link in the upper left (for checking old post responses, etc.?), or if it was just me.   It comes up blank In IE, and in Chrome I get a response like-

Server error

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://mgoblog.com/users/m-wolverine. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Reload this webpage later.
HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

Not a big deal if it is just me, but wondered if it is a more widespread error or just account specific.

I don't have this problem, but if I try to go to my posting history past page 1, it just shows board titles instead of actual posts I make. On a related note, when I click the next page button on the Board sidebar, it goes to diary topics.

So basically I can never see the second page of anything. Seems unrelated-ish, but just saying it's always been that way. Anyone else?

And not the accounts. Because when I check yours, I get the same thing-

@Op: I'm in FF 10.0 and same thing when I click my account page. [Edit: By "same thing," I mean it's just a blank white page. I don't get the Server Error message or anything.]

@kevin holt: The work-around for going to the next page of board topics is to right-click on the >>, then open link in new tab. It's kind of annoying if you end up going back a few pages, but it works.

Is it "track" or "post" on the bars at the top? Then it'll list all the things you've posted in by order of most recent response, and you can click on the "new" posts to see what has been added, and if you've been responded to in any of them.

I'm having the same error. As noted by Brian's meta post about the MGoApps, he is making upgrades to the site and this is likely a result of that. You can probably expect lots of things to break and then suddenly work better than they did before of the next few weeks. It's good to email Brian about it to make sure he knows something is broken, but I wouldn't start a post about each bug that pops up (not pointed at you M-W, just for general reference).

And I told him it was no big deal. It's not exactly a high news time, so I'm not missing out on anything.  And I figured it might have something to do with the upgrades.  If a "page" was down or something, I would figure it's the same for everyone, and just leave it at the email. I did the post because being just one user, I couldn't tell if it was just my page, which doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, or if it was EVERYONE'S page...which still doesn't mean much, but is a bigger problem for Brian to worry about than just one user's access.  And I figured he might be able to check, but if he already knows it's site wide, it saves him sometime.

I'm using Chrome (16.0.9), and it's displaying the error same error message for all user pages.  I'd venture to guess that its site changes being made by Brian.  IIRC he said he would probably push most in house maintenance off until the off season, when news and stuff has slowed down.

me either. If you're trying to get back to check your old posts, hover over "My Account" until "My mgopoints" shows up and click on that. Then just click on "insert" in each row to get to the related post.

has been one or any combination of the following.

1. There is new content being uploaded to the front page.

2. There is new content being uploaded to the forum/Diarys

3. Someone is perfominr some type of maint/fix to the webpage due to that damn virus attack thingy.

4. Site traffic is really maxed.

I immediately run an unscheduled update to my free Malwarebites and my free Microsoft virus protection program, then I scan.   No. 3 has shut down or infected my computer too many times in the past, so I'm hypervigilant about the Server Error message. Again my experience hope this is helpful
