Meta: What would you do if you won a chance to Mod for a day?

Submitted by Blue boy johnson on

It's a thankless, but necessary position, what could you accomplish in one  day of modding? Banning me is entirely ACCEPTABLE.

Endless threads about kittens and unicorns!

Also, I'd institute a policy where every week we revisit a key thread from the past and make people own up to their posts.  In hindsight, who's the douche?  Who was the voice of reason?  What do they have to say about it now?  Anyone who deserves to eat crow but doesn't do it with sufficient grace gets banhammered into oblivion.  Also, I make sure they get a dead mouse in their air filter at their next oil change.  Because that's the kind of delicious power an MGBlog moderator gets to wield!

I would ban anyone who started a thread with a title in the vein of "My thoughts on the ______ game." As if anyone cares.

I get so tired of seeing a dozen of those after every win and thirty of them after every loss.

Let's make a deal, delusional postgame thoughts-offerers. You start blogging your postgame thoughts elsewhere, and I will visit every Saturday and even make a comment. I am willing to take this one for the sake of the MGoBoards.

Resign as quickly as possible.

Modding is a very thankless job.  Stupid people complain that you delete their triple posts.  Angry people complain that it's a free country and you infringe on their 1st amendment rights when you delete their posts.  People you ban create new accounts and post again.  Then you get into internet fights.  Color me excited.

I'm much happier with 0 responsibility.  You can avoid all the posts with dumb sounding titles, you don't have to read them to determine if the content is terrible, and you can upvote/downvote people without creating KONSPRIASY! theories.

I would reset all points to 0.  Let the chaos ensue.

In addition, I would changes the post creation threshold to 0, but require a 60 minute confirmation period where you have to reconfirm the post every 5 minutes.

And watch all the cash roll in...  all the mods are rich millionaires right?

Actually, no, I wouldn't just sit there, I'd go back through the last two years and figure out everyone who ever negged me or disagreed at me or looked at my post the wrong way... then I'd drink their milkshake

I would ban all the people thay complain about topics of threads or other peoples posts.

If you want to disagree and debate someone's opinion or point feel free.  Especially if it's mine.

If you don't like the topic move on.

It's like the people who complain about Howard Stern.  If you don't like him than don't listen.

It's pretty simple.
