META: Uploading Avatar Not Working
When I try to upload an image from my pc, sized 84 x 84 pixels of course, using google chrome, I keep getting an error message, as follows.
I've been trying to upload an image for over a year, with no success, yet I've seen other MGoMembers change their avatars many times since. I have searched around the site for answers, and have come across two posts, http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/meta-avatar-upload-malfunction and http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/meta-avatar-uploading-functioning-again, however the issue still seems to be happening. Am I doing something wrong, or is the site currently unable to upload any avatars?
Also, not sure if i should have labeled this META or not, my understanding of META is that its something related to the site, so if I'm wrong I apologize.

Is it something you can crop? Take down some of the edges maybe? Get less of the pic in there. Also, maybe try and save it as a different type of picture, use paint if you're not or something else if you are.

I've already resized it to the apropriate size required, the file size is not the issue here.

If you upload the pic I can try to do it for you real fast, no promises though and I don't know how to work a fix either. Its been a while since I uploaded a new avatar.

I believe you uploaded this avatar when she was still in HS.

It was after the Big Chill, so at least she was (probably) eighteen and (possibly) accepted to college already.

It is plainly marked as kb in the destructions. I can't remember what I had to do with mine, but the file is small. I'll see if I can find it and update this.

The file size is 5kb, so its really really small.

Just as a test, I tried it and it didn't work either, so I wonder if this is yet another module/function that didn't make it in the migration. Maybe the permissions to the directory where the avatars are kept were changed in the process too - I've seen that happen on other sites.

for well over a year. When I did have an avatar a couple years back, the size didn't seem to matter much...the site auto-sized it for me.
Not sure what the problem is now, hoping for an answer in this thread.

I sent an email into the system just a couple of days ago about the VERY same thing. I've been trying to upload a new photo for a couple of years....and nothing!!! I feel your pain OP. I have a great photo to use. I wish I could use it.

I e-mailed Brian a couple weeks ago about it. I haven't been able to load one since "The Crash". Same error message over here too.
