Meta: Tim and TomVH transition

Submitted by NYC Fan on

I know Brian is currently looking for replacements, but when are Tim and TomVH officially done with this site?  As we have not heard anything concrete, is there going to be a gap in Wednesday Recruiting, Big Ten Recruiting Class Rankings, Sunday Updates, etc.  Yes this is a free site, but at the same time, loyal users should be informed as many of us check this site 50+ times a day.  I would like to know if I will be reading a TomVH post tonight, or going to bed without this information from here on out.

Also, I for one would still like to follow their content and would like to know about their new positions.  The type of work they will be doing is consumer based, so I don't feel asking this is out of line.

Mods feel free to delete if deemed uneccessary.

I was thinking the same thing. Glad somebody asked. I'm anxious to see an answer. For what it's worth I'm pretty sure Tom is on vacation via what i read on his twitter.

It's not that I'm crazy. It's that you DON'T CARE ENOUGH!

You're probably the kind of guy that doesn't cut himself each time Michigan lets up a first down, aren't you? You can probably watch the game without "making a scene" too.

You'll have a Tom recruiting post on Wednesday. The timetable's set but I'll leave it to Brian to elaborate.

When the changes happen, you won't be disappointed.

Brian will let us know when there is something to tell us. Until then, we will all get nothing and like it.

50X a day? Seriously? Do/ did you work for Borders?

Refresh at the desk whenever I have a spare moment (and even when I don't)... and check-in via iPhone/iPad app when I'm in mtgs, bathroom, lunch, etc...!

...is definitely MGoBlog time.   It's my fortress of solitude.   Will Brian scream "eeewwwww" when he envisions his legions of followers dropping a deuce while frantically searching for MGoBlog updates?   I don't think so.   We're all human....well, except for "THE_KNOWLEDGE".   His $hit don't stink.

The reaction of some of the board to the news of Tim's and Tom's upcoming departure reminds me of an old story about a guy who gave a homeless guy $5.00 every day when he saw him on the street but one day he forgot his wallet so he had none to give.  When the begger found out he wasn't getting his usual $5.00 he complained to his friends that he had been "cheated" by his usual benefactor.

This is a free website guys that is supported by ads and the contributions of people who feel guilty at the enormous amount of fantastic free content we get on Michigan sports.  The fact that it's spawned real career opportunities for two of its most notable contributors is nothing short of fantastic for Tim & Tom and speaks loudly to the quality of their work.  And, as a business owner myself I can also say it speaks loudly to the overall quality of MGoblog and the people Brian has surrounded himself with.

The upcoming departure of Tim & Tom should be a siren call to all aspiring writers who wish to make covering Michigan sports an actual career as Brian and now T & T have.  Great job Brian - you should be very proud.

We are so fortunate that Brian put mgoblog together, and for the contributions made by Tom, Tim, and many others. I hope many of those coming to this tremendous site appreciate what a privilege we have, and find tangible ways to express this. Between Brian's marvelous commentary, unverified voracity, upon further review, the analysis and tracking of recruits, the explanation of schemes and plays, and the interviews conducted by Tom, we have available more information about Michigan than is available for any other school in the country.

Maybe I missed it, but I think you are really reading a little too much between the lines with that poor attempt at analogy with that dumb bum story (no offense, homeless peeps).  Maybe people just enjoy reading Tim and Tom's contributions to mgoblog, and maybe they just found good opportunities? Did Brian say they were feeling jilted?

No matter if you liked my analogy or not the fact remains that a significant portion of the board is worrying about the upcoming quality of the Michigan recruiting information being provided to them free of charge.  And the point I was trying to make was:

A. It's a free site - we have zero room to bitch about who is or is not contributing

B. When you run a successful business good people sometimes leave.  But other good people generally rise up to replace them when they see that opportunity exists as it does here on MGoblog.

No, to the best of my knowledge Brian has not posted anything even remotely negative about the upcoming departures of his two of his best contributors.  But many people here on the site sure have.
