Funny you should mention, I just got a FB message from a huge MSU homer that said Go Green! Blue Sucks! I simply just ignored it and moved on.
META: Spartan Week Reminder
Seriously? They're organizing a "board invasion"? lol.
Better than a PREWB invasion ammiright?
Y'all need to hide your engineers, hide your women, and hide your hockey players 'cause they're criminally assaultin' everybody out here.
Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes I need to remind myself to stay classy in the midst of a heated rivalry.
Yes, we must treat our little brother with respect.
treat him with respect... until he gets really annoying. Then convince him that everytime he sneezes it attracts bees (of course bring out some pepper), or that snakes can come up through the toilet but only while hes sitting down.
That'll show em...
Can we talk about how bad our defense played UNACCEPTABLE!!!!11!!! Need more sacks and AGGRESSIVE SWWAGGAR!!!1! Pad LEVEL EXPECTATIONS!!!1!
where MGoBlog might be creating a new internet phenomena of Supportive Trolling
it doesn't change the fact that, at this stage, to quote Bill Parcels, you are what you are. There is little reason for optimism, as even if players improve with experience, as some will, so will the offense we face as they will have had more time to prepare. Stand ready for lots of 40-35 games.
I love their beautiful, beautiful hair. Throwing around unfounded predictions and promises is what a rivalry is all about. I actually enjoy the fireworks.
Eh...State fans are kinda like mosquitoes......they're around all summer, every once in a while one might bite you enough to leave a mark but most of the time you just squish them between your thumbs....otherwise they're pretty much non-existent by mid-October.
I was going to say we should return the favor, but then I realized I'm not 12 and am a functioning member of society.
You know, the Ohio State board likes to post the emails the trolls use to sign up. If there was ever a time to copy OSU, this might be it.
absolutely not. as great as it would be to post the @albion.edu, etc., email addresses that Spartan trolling has utilized, there's a difference. perhaps we could call it... the Michigan difference.
There emails should be easy to spot - anything from @mcdonalds.com and @walmart.com should require extra verification.
We'll let the team do the talking on Saturday.
It looks like they are quite confused at the purpose of Mgopoints...to stop what they are trying to accomplish.
All hail the mods! and Brian!
Not just for San Diego
Mods, you've got a big week.
+1 for all mods. You do good work out there.
We can just remind them this exists:
On second thought, they probably all think this is really cool, so it wouldn't matter. It's really hard to embarrass a Sparty... which explains why they are Sparties in the first place.
Shocked? You bet I'm not!
Um, they think this is cool. I was sent this video from a Sparty, along with Petway's rap, saying, "Our athletes are even better rappers than yours." Which I replied to with a heavy dose of Coner & the President.
with such a clean, well-organized, easy-to-read, easy-to-participate in, etc., website. every time i look at a rival team's blog, all I get is some primitive-looking POS with a messy combination of information, which is the greatest disincentive to participate (i.e., troll). it's like comparing facebook to myspace 5 years ago.
Yes keep it classy. There is no need to say things about players like, "that guy (Robinson) can take his bushy eyebrows get hep c from a dude in a seedy rest stop bathroom". That is uncalled for. I mean they don't see us making fun of Greg Jones' lesbian dreadlock style haircut.
Now that you mention it... Greg Jones does look like a little feminine.
Who as soon as he found out I was an M fan started talking shit about how Michigan would finish the year terrible ad about how Greg jones would stop Denard.
Needless to say I kept it civil and just said "jones has to catch him first and I don't think he can"
They all have huge inferiority complexes and it's best to ignore them or try to educate them. For example he made a comment about how our pass d is terrible so I told him how:
#1 corner out for the season
#2?? Corner transferred
#3 corner was #4 last year
#4 is a journeyman that was recruited at wr and has never seen the field before this year
Then I explained safeties and he didn't really know what to say.
It looks like today's bitch is going to be mgoblog.com.
Let's mobilize....I've loaded up several usernames already, but I'm going to be tied up until about 12 CST.
Gotta wait for him/her to get off their shift at mcdonalds
Let's hope he's tied up in a closet.
its great to see how conflicted the people on RCMB are.
Grow up and show some class. The anti-UM vitriol is stupid and shows our insecurity.
followed up by
One of those people who is insecure about showing insecurity.
Whatever...we don't need her.
and the original poster compounding his/her argument about insecurity with this gem
Oh now I get it. You have a tiny ***** and being an ass makes you feel better.
so why do they get mad when we can't take them seriously
I'm so confused. Does the topic starter even begin to realize that he is promoting acting like an ass in the first place? Does he then realize that he claims being an ass derives from having a small...member?
I'd ask if they understood any part of irony, dramatic, situational, or otherwise, but I think this is just stupidity.
Are IP adresses important? What happens If I change my parents IP's?
.... Ordinarily I'd make a joke here, but there are just too many to choose from.
Fish, Barrel, Gun. Too easy.
Sparty on Sparty violence is just so sad.
How about just not allowing new accounts to create board topics for the next five days?
Yeah, can't we temporarily raise the threshold to create topics? Most of the "invaders" will probably stop bothering if they need 100 points to start a thread.
Doesn't even take that much:
I still can't figure out how to start a thread and I don't want to spend any more than 2 minutes trying to figure it out.
Brian is contemplating turning off all new user registration this week. I think it's overkill. Let them say their thing, we'll banhammer then shortly thereafter.
Well, at least I'm not crazy....
i agree. i really want to see what they have to say. its no fun for us when the mods delete the incomprehensible nonsense they post. i've been checking constantly to fine a troll post but with no success.
On the one hand he gets more hits to the site (thanks for the extra cash, assholes!); on the other his creation gets bombarded by complete nonsense and the signal-to-noise ratio drops dangerously close to 1:1 (or worse).
Honestly that is probably the most ideal situation. Why bother going through all that effort to see what they have to say and then ban them?
Honestly are we that stricken for content that we have to resort to negbanging and troll-hating? I mean people complain about stupid threads being started when regular users are on the board, yet people want legit trolls to roll through on the board and post?
I am all for Brian just turning off new user registration. If there is a legit Michigan fan who really wants an account this week, then they can email Brian or one of the mods.
It happens all the time during the NHL playoffs. I'm not a troll, but I do like to go to whoever the Wings are playing and read what the other side has to say, but the past few years, a couple of those messages boards require you to be a registered user to even read forum topics, and during the playoffs they will put a hold on any new registrations.
Maybe overkill - but it is effective.
That's one of the many differences between this and other forums. On MLive, the trolls are given seven-course meals. It's sometimes amazing.
i love how they're planning all these attacks on rcmb, and we can see every fucking thing they're doing.
poor souls, they dont have anything better to do, and are so naive and shortsighted that they believe that if they post their secret battle plans online, we wont find out and stop them before they even get the chance to get going.
little brother indeed.
Looking forward to another edition of this come next Monday.
Sorry, it never gets old.
Never heard that before. Is he crying? Hilarious.
Is that the same rant where he suggests MSU hires HR Pufnstuf and Teddy Ruxbin to coach?
here's part 2
makes me want to download and watch that game.
Hilarious!!!! Thanks for posting this.
Oh. my. god. This is fantastic!
That rant just never gets old.
It's this week that I am reminded of one of my favorite quotes ever:
"The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously."
--Hubert H. Humphrey
Don't feed the beast.
But what if you just didn't allow new people to join this week (And next week too if we were to lose)? You can even let them join, but not post till next week. That might be to fine a point on a computer system to do, technically. But for those who are just joining for trouble, they can't. And for anyone who really wants to follow the site, they can wait a week. (Realizing this might be a completely ridiculous and unfeasible suggestion).
to implement that 500 point minimum for starting new threads.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Maybe also ratchet up the pts needed to upvote/downvote to 50 or 100, so that they cant ever get up to the point where they can sustain themselves.
If they ever start downvoting UM fans, I'm sure the rest of us will quickly have that guy's back and up-vote him beyond belief.
They can neg me all they want. Neggin' ain't free. I think I've got the room to spare.
to park their RV in my driveway, and I have to put away the good liquor and buy some cheap beer. I hope they go away soon.
I don't care about the trolls, or random Sparty postings, etc. They will be banned quickly enough. But if their invasion of our blog starts giving me Gateway 502 Timeouts I am going to go APE on someone.
Sometimes troll behavior can be very amusing.
But if troll content becomes annoying and clogs the site up with stupidity, yes, raise the threshold for posting and for new users.
Trolling boards is no fun....what's funner is trolling Wikipedia....
Our Munn Invasion was better than anything they could come up with.
that 90% of the troll accounts have ended up being "Walmart Spartans"
Nice of you to drop by.
You are quite intelligent
They had a field day with Tate last year. Denard won't be so easy.
They get food poisoning.
1) They lack the cognitive capacity to actually start a thread
2) They resemble a poisonous rash, in that they shrivel up and disappear when they are ignored
3) They are envious of our mgopoints.
I like being classy
My favorite part: "You know whats really annoying? Word verifications." Really? You go troll an opponent's message board, and you're really annoyed by the new-user registration Captcha? Hilarious.
Attacks complements of a Barwis hybrid wolf dog. Just ask Sparty
Is it just me or has Brian turned off Mgopoints in order to not allow newb users the ability to ratchet up enough points and start meaningless troll threads? I just tried to +1 someone on another thread and its a no go for me.
Edit: Maybe its just the Up/Down arrows that are turned off???
Either way it was a good idea.
How did you piss Brian off?
Last Friday basic user status got bumped up to 100 MGoPoints, so we the riff-raff can't vote anymore. If you check your email there should be a notification that you lost part of your MGoTriforce.
what's good for the goose is good for the gander...
We don't really want to hear from any MGoBloggers about how they snuck on a Spartan site (why anyone would want to do that is beyond me) and talked crap.
Let's be Leaders and Best - this week and every week.
(footnote - gander being an acronym for our little sister... of course)
I'm guessing a deleted post to a troll is worse than any negative comments they get. It's hard for them to brag up their post to their fellow trolls if it's not there to read.
What if there's a sparty in this thread, right now.
I don't trust anyone anymore.
That post was made from INSIDE THE HOUSE!
MAC level invasion
Apparently "they didn't want to invade anyways." Couldn't be that they couldn't get a ball rolling
|Today, 01:04 PM||#155 (permalink)|
Mgopoints. What is this? They just slap each other on the back with points whenever they bash State for beating up old ladies or something? Why haven't we implemented such a great system?
... i think you answered your own question of why the system exists...
That just made me laugh out loud for real.
It's kind of funny to see them try and figure out our beloved blog.
How many Spartans does it take to post on MgoBlog?
Apparently none cause dey too stupid to figure it out haha
I'm in a Sparty rich environment, up north in Charlevoix, including my next door neighbor. I'll be sporting Maize and Blue whenever possible this week. The Block M is flying, as well.
I work at State... the maize and blue's definitely coming out this week.
Just to add to the general paranoia, there are several new users with names suspiciously simliar to veteran posters. WichitanWolverine, you have your own little bro, "WichitaWolverine."
I'm not insinuating that user is a troll, but TRUST NO ONE!!!
User for 34 weeks and change; did pick the craziest possible fucking thread in which to ask about things to do on game day in Ann Arbor, though.
While WichitaWolverine looks to be on the slightly-confused up-and-up, the warning about poster names stands.
I just got one of those emails like bouje got about password resets. This seems to work, though, so I don't see the need for doing anything.
I got a fiesty one. 15 emails in 15 minutes. Google consolidated into one nice, neat delete. Ignore.
I wouldn't want to lower myself by posting anything about spartie. The last thing I would do is go to one of their sites .... scary. Go Blue !!!!
Just ask them if they're posting from a laptop that they got a deal on from Dion Sims.
It's this simple: if we don't up-vote any posts that have spelling and grammar mistakes, there's no way that they'll be able to create a new topic.
After years of lurking, it seems that I picked an auspcious week to finally sign up. Alcohol-induced account-creation bravado, fwiw. Now it looks like I have some work to do to separate myself from the riff-raff.
It's hardly worth commenting, but I just followed a link over to RCMB and discovered that they have a strong aversion to media outlets following up negative stories about people related to their program. I haven't followed the story at all so my only opinion about the Spartan reaction is that it's funny to read "I hate biased journalism. You get these blogs and 'watchdog' groups online that have no training, no tact and no news judgment, and it shows in the writing." That's a sentence that can only come from a fan of a program with a loyal "trained" lapdog in the local media.
On a brighter note, it seems Denard is even too fast for MSU fans to hate him. Now, "ForeverMediocre"? If you're an MGoBlogger, stay out of it, especially when they're being honest and human and reasonable. Besides, you called out the wrong thing. It's plenty reasonable for any opposing fan to say, "the only bad thing about Denard is that he plays [somewhere else]." If you want to find the problem with MSU fans, go to a bar and listen to the MSU contingent as they cheer louder about scores against Michigan than about scores for State.
What if we spot Sparty wearing dreads on Saturday night?
But how about a banhammer for this guy-
he's done nothing wrong. he's offered a contrary viewpoint. tell him why he's wrong if you're so inclined.
If you don't care about trolls hopping on with worthless content, and would prefer flame arguments (contrary to what other mods have suggested...good to see everyone still on the same page), why should I? Because it doesn't seem you can take the time to read more than his last post....
he only has two. they're biased slants. they're not trolling. trolling is LULZ U GUYZ SUXORZ. he simply disagrees. bfd. to claim i don't agree simply bc i "didn't know about him" or "didn't read the entries" is ridiculous. not to mention he's a mod of RCMB
You lost me at "he's a mod of RCMB" (well then...).
But then I noticed you didn't even count the number of posts he had right.... (unless someone else has been deleting them, he at least had 3....)
It's Iowa week!
