META: Site Problems - Being Taken to External Sites
Is anyone else having an issue with clicking on a topic and it taking you to another website? I have no issues on any site, but this one. It just started this afternoon too. I was on during my lunch break and everything was perfectly fine. Now anytime I try to click a topic, it takes me to an external site.
Edit: To be more specific this is the link it was sending me to - http://pluto.tv/watch/late-night-tv?utm_campaign=reg-brand-pu&utm_sourc…

Yeah I tried this excuse with my wife too. It didn't work.
August 28th, 2015 at 5:53 PM ^
My wife isn't even home and they're not sites that even related to that. As I said, this is literally the only site that is doing it. Also when I signed on I noticed there was a small gap between the banner and the rest of the forum that was a different shade of blue. It looked like someone had been trying to code something. That's the only reason why I asked if anyone else was having the issue. I wouldn't have even said anything, but I can't read a single forum topic.

Oh your wife isn't home... That is supposed to convince us that you WEREN'T looking at porn?

No need to be ashamed for looking at porn. Everyone does it - even wives, sometimes.
Just the other day, my wife came up behind me while I was watching Slut Wars, Episode X - Return of the Bukkaki and caught the climactic scene (so to speak) before I shut down my browser.
August 28th, 2015 at 7:50 PM ^
It's spelled bukkake. Or so an important and literate book I read says...

Maybe you should ask the NSA why they are messing with your computer and IP address.

Same here, I've had the same issues and noticed the different shade blue bar. So far I only get redirected from my Android device, but it's concerning given the past virus that got in through an ad here a few years back.
August 29th, 2015 at 7:13 AM ^
The virus that was on here a few years ago was definitely a reason I brought it up. Like I said, no other sites give me issues. Also I'm running a completely clean Mac, and this was the only site with issues. I figured with the blue line maybe they were trying to add something?

What is "lunch break?"

Did you try turning it off and then back on?
August 28th, 2015 at 6:13 PM ^
Hello, Comcast? Is that you?
August 28th, 2015 at 5:59 PM ^
No problems over here. Also for everyone else don't go to the URL in the OP. I'm assuming it's some type of malware.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:03 PM ^
but only on my phone.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:32 PM ^
This ^^^
On my phone I'm occasionally taken from this site directly to the Apple App Store.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:40 PM ^
This happens to me too. It's extremely frustrating. It only happens on my phone.
August 28th, 2015 at 7:07 PM ^
I figured Brian needed money.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:09 PM ^
Have a similar issue using my phone as well.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:10 PM ^
is it just me or does the search function on the site just completely not work everytime? it takes me to an error screen.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:19 PM ^
search function hasn't been working for at least half a year or so now.
While we are on it, can we get the side bar links cleaned up. Let's get rid of the 'recruting planet' link and replace it with the wolverine247sports link.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:12 PM ^
Yes, i'm having this issue on my phone.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:14 PM ^
Yup. Only on iPhone and iPad. Computer works fine.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:17 PM ^
On 2 different iPhones, through the browser, and only on this site. It usually takes me to the App Store after routing me through some adtracker. It's really annoying.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:23 PM ^
On my phone for a while. Android. So I rooted it and installed adblock. Problem solved.
Also, if you live in metro detroit don't bother looking at porn. Contrary to what Chris Rock says, there is sex in the champagne roomm

Others.
August 28th, 2015 at 9:53 PM ^
Most of the 9 mile ones have been over the top with structure due to all the shootings and attention certain ones brought with them. Or do you mean city proper?
August 28th, 2015 at 6:34 PM ^
I also have this issue on my phone. Also while talking about ossues, does going to page 2 on the board work for anyone?
August 28th, 2015 at 7:15 PM ^
I e-mailed Brian something similar to this almost a month ago. I go to the "tracker" within "Recent posts" - this shows all posts, whether it is content, diaries or the board, in order of last comment first. It used to have hundreds of pages of post all the way back to the first ones, but no longer. I even know how to get to the older pages by URL, but to no avail any longer.
Brian replied that he had to shut down these old pages as it was slowing down the site to a crawl. I am guessing that this is what you are experiencing with the older board pages.
August 29th, 2015 at 9:45 AM ^
Thanks! I'll start using tracker
I assume it is mgoblog.com/tracker?
August 29th, 2015 at 10:12 AM ^
Yes. You must be signed in, and then you can either go directly with what you typed or just go the upper left under your screen name hit the "Recent post."
What was nice it there is a tab on top of that list of recent posts for YOUR recent posts. For those who comment a lot it was a nice way to keep track of recent activity of threads that they had commented on, but it hasn't worked for a while.
August 29th, 2015 at 9:38 AM ^
And there was a META post from someone (SR Kass I think) thanking whoever fixed it. It is quite annoying, as if you're not on multiple times a day, during times of frequent content creation (valuable or otherwise), you need to click to Page 2 to see what's been posted in the "recent" frame.
But a few days after the fix, it went back to broken.
I'm using Chrome on a PC.
August 29th, 2015 at 12:28 PM ^
Going to page 2 has pretty much never worked for me. Once a topic scrolls off page 1, it might as well have never existed.
August 29th, 2015 at 8:12 PM ^
Right click on the arrow to page 2 and open it in a new tab. Annoying, but it works.
August 28th, 2015 at 6:52 PM ^
Several times a day for me too on iPhone and iPad.
August 28th, 2015 at 7:27 PM ^
I've never had this happen in either Chrome or Firefox on the laptop, but I've been taken to the iTunes store (and other places - not porn, not yet anyway) when reading the blog on my iPad.
As for some items mentioned upthread - clearing the cache (which I sometimes forget to do) managed to mysteriously fix the search function, although it is still occasionally buggy. If it gives 404 errors even after some memory clearance, then I am not sure what it might be. The paging buttons seem to work during lower traffic moments (early morning, later evening on a non-event night), but otherwise you basically have to open a new tab to see the next page.
August 28th, 2015 at 7:57 PM ^
Not had the issue myself but saw someone complaining about it on Twitter the other day. I use both the iPhone and iPad apps.
August 28th, 2015 at 8:00 PM ^
On mobile it always takes me to Candy Crush.
August 28th, 2015 at 8:41 PM ^
yup only on my phone, android
August 28th, 2015 at 10:18 PM ^
Constantly on android, to the point where I don't even want to try to get on here with my phone.
August 28th, 2015 at 10:28 PM ^
But only on my phone. Always to the App Store. But good luck getting anywhere with this.
August 28th, 2015 at 11:07 PM ^
Me too. This is the second thread about this. Has Brian or anyone else responded about this? It's getting rediculous.
August 28th, 2015 at 11:11 PM ^
I also have this issue on my phone. Android/Chrome.
I really wish Brian would just hire a pro to re-do the whole site. Have a fundraiser for it if need be, though shouldn't be that costly.
