This isn't true. I didn't doubt the legitimacy of the news.

You did all of that research in your OP, good stuff, BTW...don't make stuff up, I never called b/s on Speight being named the starter. I called b/s on how it was presented "congrats you've been given the keys to the car" rather than something that felt more "official" for lack of a better word.

Brian said at 10:59 that he was credible.

At 11:06 umbig11 said he would send Brian a note.

At 11:07 Brian said thanks.

Brian posted nothing saying he was full of shit.

umbig11 obviously didn't feel he could divulge his source any more than Brian, Ace, Tremendous or a number of other sources can at times. You have to take it at face value based on the credibility of the source. Brian validated that source.

The rest of it was really just you being a pompous ass.

The thread title is "Speight is our QB." Not sure how much more straightforward he could be. You way, way overreacted. You haven't admitted that it was an overreaction. You decided not to walk.

It was pretty epic. Or is. I don't know. I haven't even negged you for any of this.

I thought the Speight news (which was not doubted) should've been presented in a different manner. Didn't like how something so breaking wasn't presenting in more of a "data giving" manner versus something that could be misconstrued as opinion or a troll post (which we see here far too often).

Could've handled it better, but at the same time...was going to respond to every comment like I always do. Then a Friday night so I'm sure there were a few folks that made it a drinking thread as well.

It was all in good fun, no one got hurt. Actually it was probably one of the most civil negbangs of all time. I had at least 4 normal conversations in the midst of it all.

I'm not good at even a classic board meltdown /sadface

Did you do that research? That's good stuff...

I wasn't expecting that when I clicked on the thread. It was funny by the end, I think because people thought I was mad...but I was laughing and just trying to get back to every comment. Finally folks stopped commenting so I did the same. Updated my depth chart with the big news and watched the rest of that Hawaii/Cal game.

Yea. It's not like you were being a dick (except for the mom part). You just seemed not to get that there was a distinct possibility that divulging the source, or providing in a "data giving" manner may have upset his source, thus limiting his future access to said source.

But kudos for standing in the line of fire. I respect that.

For what it's worth I thought (and still think) you were correct to call umbig11 out. It wasn't that he didn't out his source, it was more so the fact that he put up a generic predictive OP. He just said that a write gave him confirmation in writing that it was going to happen. No matter how much respect and track record you have built up, if you throw out something that is vague enough that it's not clear whether it's prediction or inside info, I think it should be scrutinized. The guy didn't even specify if the writer has ties to UofM or how he knows the person. It's the kind of presentation that is normally associated with the AceWilliams of the world.

I tried to say the same thing by citing the lack of logic in the "inside info" scenario given by umbig11. Nothing more than a predictive op, but that is not what the mgosheep wanted to hear. Critical thinking, or contrary opinions, are shouted down on this site in favor of mob rule. Will be hilarious to see the sheep backtrack if the team announcement is not what umbig11's prediction, er..., announcement was.

I got really tired of his attitude so I started paying close attention to his comments. One night when I am pretty sure he had too much to drink he got really nasty attacking another user. I think he told them to F off among other things. I reported him to the mods using the MGoSticky and they took care of the rest. It's the one time in six years here that I've tattletaled, but in my defense, there is only so much Title IX related commentary I can take.

EDIT: see comments #800 and #801 here:

Let history show that LSAClassOf2000 did the banhammering. Truly, a feather in his cap.
