META - Order of posts in thread

I thought that the thread order (now oldest to newest) had been that way for a long time (ever since a big site attack/malfunction/whatnot)? I'd love to be able to order newest to oldest again. Anyone know if that's possible?

EDIT: hmmm...maybe that was one of the modules that was killing us.

That's where I thought the fix was. All I'm seeing are dropdowns for what voting of posts to see (+1,+2,+3, etc...), flat or thread (whatever that is), and then the number of posts to see on a page (20, 50, 100, etc....). Nothing else

If you set it up newest-to-oldest, how will you be able to see the guy that posts "FIRST" get hammered to Bolivian?

It would be great if originating OPs screen name appeared with the new posts to determine whether to click or not.
This is so obvious it's probbaly been considered and not implemented for a reason by MOGOBLOG. Maybe less clicks? However, I tend to think it would improve the sites click rate not decrease it because there are so many good posters that I may read something with an uninteresting title just because the OP is generlaly not a moron

Other commenters have alluded to being able to tell, but I've never been able to. Sometimes it's confusing as hell.

I think that's all about the thread ordering as well. It used to be that a new comment would be directly under the comment it's responding to. Now, that "new" comment could be 20 comments below the intended comment and you almost need to put a ruler against the monitor to figure out what goes where. Newest-to-oldest is my #1 requested change for the site.

I don't have any of the problems you guys are describing? On the display do you have it listed as "threaded' or 'flat"?

I think "flat" just lines up the edges evenly, but doesn't affect the chronilogical ordering. "Threaded" indents appropriately, but can be hard to match up because oldest posts appear first (whereas they used to appear last).
