META: no more sexybits, please

Persons of MGoBlog:

Y'all gotta cut it out with the barely PG-13 bewbs stuff. (And for the rare times a woman has intrepidly posted BEEFCAKE in a thread, that too.) I've never liked it much because I think it can be offputting to women, but it wasn't something I wanted to police.

That's got to change, as Google is now actively scanning for that kind of stuff and sending me emails  like so:

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hello,

This is a warning message to alert you that there is action required to bring your AdSense account into compliance with our AdSense program policies. We’ve provided additional details below, along with the actions to be taken on your part.

Affected website: mgoblog.com

Example page where violation occurred: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/friday-posbang-12

Action required: Please make changes to your site within 3 business days.

Current account status: Active

Violation explanation

Google ads may not be placed on pages with adult or mature content. This includes, but is not limited to, pages with images or videos containing:

  • Strategically covered nudity
  • Sheer or see-through clothing
  • Lewd or provocative poses
  • Close-ups of breasts, buttocks, or crotches

For more information about keeping your content family-safe, please review our program guidelines and these tips from the policy team.

-------------------------------------------------------

Obviously losing adsense would be a very bad thing for the viability of this site, so Kate Upton's gotta go. In the future we're going to be deleting this stuff on sight; persistent violators will get docked points.

This being the case, posbang and other celebratory threads from here on out will be looked at more closely. Also, there are a few avatars which may need to be reviewed as time permits. I will remind people as I find the avatars but questionable content from certain threads per Brain's post above will be simply deleted as it is found.

Google used to be known as one of the coolest trendiest companies...and then they go and bust out "crotch" in an official letter. Not cool. Not cool at all, unless you're 80 years old...in which case it's completely funny.

coincidence that this surfaces the day Brian eviscerated Dave Brandon? I think this was payback from a broken man with an axe to grind. revenge upon the blog that took him down #tinfoilhat

I'm really not sure what to make of this.  Where does this stem from?  It's Brian's site, so unless this is what he ultimately wants, how does Google tell him how to run his site?

He can do what ever he wants with his site but he has to follow their terms and conditions if he wants to get paid by their ad program.

There is also a fair amount of evidence that Google is very evil in how they deal with websites that use their ad program. So F Google. Regarding Brian there are not a lot of options to generate ad revenue. He does a great job and already fought and won a war against DB. I don't think a war with Google is in his and his readers best interest. It can't be won at this point in history anyway

Which makes me think if people are ticked about this, don't get ticked at Brian, get ticked at Google. Google is good, certainly. But if like it if consumers trimmed them down a bit. They are getting too close to monopoly levels of influence, imho.

That said, I think it's a good policy. If we make this like a Jr. High boys locker room we can freeze out some female fans.

Finally. I can't wait to hear from the 15-year-olds on the board:

"BUT WHY DOES LOOKING AT SOME BITCHEZ ASS WITH A THONG ON OFFEND YOU JUST SCROLL DOWN IT'S SO SMALL YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE IT GET A BETTER JOB WITHOUT A DICK BOSS WTF GET BACK TO WORK WHY U ON MGOBLOG???"

If we want to find barely-clothed women, there's plenty of very easy ways to do that on the internet.

I'm a mod on another forum, and we have the same issues with Google.  In fact, we have to censor the most ridiculous words in order to keep Google from pulling the ad revenue plug on us.  Words that contain what we consider way tame:  stripe is now *****e, Arsenal is ****nal (lol), and so on.  Of course swear words are out.  My favorite is pronouncement is ****ouncement, because everyone loves pr0n.
