Meta: New Board Policy

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on

In order to prevent general hate mail/complaining, a new Board policy has been instated to make it easier for people who have general problems/questions with moderation on this here forum.

If you find a post of yours missing or edited in a way that seems odd, please go here and find the reasoning. If there is no reasoning, please make a comment/response asking why and it will be answered (hopefully) quickly. This is being done to prevent new posts of "Why was this deleted?!" or 900 emails infiltrating the MGoBlog email when everyone thinks they're the first to uncover a topic posted 12 days ago.

TIA.

I would politely disagree with this.

I used to think so, until one day i posted something that was on the main page. It was a news piece Brian had covered. OMG Shirtless ripped me a new one and suggested the TRACKER feature..

Though I would argue items are often found/discussed/posted earlier on the Board than they are on the main site. I was not saying the main page should be replaced with the /mgoboard sub-site but, instead, an effective tool more useful than click the over arrow or more on the Forums side box.

I would also disagree. If you're on regularly, and know where you "left off", the side bar is more efficient because it shows the posts in order, whereas the Board shows it by popularity, or recent use. If it's just a news item that's not going to get tons of discussion, it gets buried quick on the main board with older topics that are still being discussed. The sidebar shows everything, in order of post.

Now, if you haven't been on in ages, or pay attention to where you were before, then yes, the main board at least gives you a lot more posts to look at more quickly. But if there's a different way to order the main board so you see all the posts, and not just the most recently/often commented on, I see value in the sidebar.  For some reason "new" there is an option, but I can't figure out how to do that on the main board.

Though a good search is always a good idea too.  Though I've found that to be hit or miss. (But probably no more than the boards shifting post lists that seem sometimes to skip over posts). All are good.
