META Need to ask a Mod something
Can the mods set up a gmail account that they all have access to so that those of us who don't do the twitter have a way to get in touch without creating a thread like I am right now?
We sorta touched on this last night in the "thread that will not be named" when it comes to reporting stuff. But if there was a non-Brian email link for us to get in touch with you folks, I think it would be rather helpful.

how about [email protected]?
September 25th, 2013 at 8:44 PM ^
but OP is looking for direct access to the mods in a private manner, which is actually a good idea.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:46 PM ^
i wonder if [email protected] is available?
September 25th, 2013 at 8:48 PM ^
auctioning it off would be the prudent thing to do.
September 26th, 2013 at 7:20 AM ^
I'm gonna create that account myself just so they can't have it.

But do you have [email protected]? That's where the money is!

You seem like a good guy, Bronx Blue. Not sure if you have the time to continue the "Wolverines in the NFL" diary, but I know you got some enjoyment out of it along with several others who thanked me for putting that together. If not you, maybe someone. Those guys in the NFL deserve at least as much attention as we give random high school guys who may or may not ever play for Michigan.
Although I could stay under the guise of a new username, I'm going away for good. I made this one just to say my last goodbyes and take care of loose ends. Thanks for the debates over the years.

Do you have information that you don't want to post publicly, but you'll send in an email to anyone who gives you their email address? Because if so, I'm totally in.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:44 PM ^
That already exists: [email protected].

Come on man. Really?

It's a reference to an older SNL skit which obviously you have not seen. I do apologize if the 1.25 seconds you spent reading it ruined your day.
September 25th, 2013 at 10:15 PM ^
I had to look up that SNL skit because I couldn't remember how it went. If that wasn't one of the funniest fucking things in the history of the world I don't know what is. To say I laughed uncontrollably hard is putting it mildly. My stomach hurts so much right now.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:47 PM ^
Thread if you wanted to be less intrusive. Anyways, I think that having access to the mods in a private manner would be a good thing and that this is a good idea. I don't know if it's in the works or not, but a site-wide PM system would be nice as well.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:50 PM ^
Didn't think about the Mod Action Sticky. I'm guessing that would work for a lot of things, but I was under the impression that Brian didn't want that cluttered up, but left for explanations from mods on why they took action.
If a Mod reads this, could you just go ahead and ban the GhostofChappuis? I'm also wondering what else he has to do for you to IP ban him.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:55 PM ^
and inane comments in that thread but using it to ask or tell the mods something is appropriate.
I'm pretty sure if the GhostofChappuis was banned, he would just come back as the GhostoftheGhostofChappuis. The mods can only ban accounts, not IPs.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:58 PM ^
Are you sure about the IP thing? I thought it was discussed recently that IPs and even IP ranges can be banned. Is it just that Brian can do it?
September 25th, 2013 at 9:12 PM ^
Yep, IPs can definitely been banned. I seem to remember them employing that a couple years ago (for what reason, I can't remember). Maybe the low-ranking mods can't do it, but the owners of the site definitely could.

What IS the misery module?
September 25th, 2013 at 10:04 PM ^
You know, you could find that out on your own...
September 25th, 2013 at 10:17 PM ^
Also, for anyone who is even moderately experienced with computers, an IP ban really doesn't work.
September 25th, 2013 at 11:09 PM ^
Just set the mask to 0.0.0.0 and it will always work.

We can cave as many accounts as we want in theory, but it won't stop this necessarily, at least not with the access privileges that we have. My own theory - for what it is worth - is that if you're going to employ the same general pattern for the name and the same general style of posting, eventually most people will figure out who you are (were) no matter how many times the account is caved.
September 25th, 2013 at 9:03 PM ^
That's what it's for.
What often happens is that someone posts in the Mod Action Sticky asking for help, the mods address the concern, then they delete the post to avoid clutter.
September 25th, 2013 at 9:54 PM ^
I have not done anything that would constitute a bannable offense.

I am going to be frank here - I actually started toying with the idea of doing this today. I can only speak for myself, but I am pretty accessible via Twitter, but realizing that not everyone has Twitter or cares to ever be on it, this is a fairly sensible Plan B short of knowing personal e-mail addresses. The downside of pool accounts like this - at least in my own experience with them on a corporate level - is that sometimes they won't get checked more than a few times per day, but we could possibly work out some reasonable frequency.
September 25th, 2013 at 8:59 PM ^
Just to be clear, I don't have anything at the moment that I wanted to ask about. However, I can see a time where someone would want to just contact a mod instead of posting it in a thread or creating a new one. Especially if the point system ever actually comes back and they want to avoid being negged to death for raising a concern.

Can I also have a unicorn?
September 25th, 2013 at 9:52 PM ^
Who doesn't want a unicorn?
September 25th, 2013 at 10:12 PM ^
I do not want a unicorn. I have never wanted a unicorn.

Some people do not believe in the magical healing powers of unicorns. Those are very sad people.

This is an Internet Michigan sports forum, what the hell could you possibly want to contact a Mod about to complain?

My wife does get why I laugh so much reading about football. These posts are great; I pass over the complaint comments. Life's too short.

This may be the best response ever, and I am only using 38% of the usual hyperbole.

Seems to me you're the one that needs to chill.
Sorry, forgot these: !!!

Well now I want to complain about the hairstyle being employed in that avatar. It reminds me of my 12th grade English teacher. I'm going to have nightmares again.
September 25th, 2013 at 9:26 PM ^
Well, I'm dissatisfied with the new font of the MGOBLOG header. I mean come on, we all know Michigan men write in Helvetica.
