Has anyone else noticed that android app using a lot of battery. The app appears to be waking the system when not in use. I'm using the Note 2. That's a pretty sizable amount of usage on that size of a battery.

It probably has more to do with your usage than anything else. And if you aren't in the habit already, I always get rid of apps from my multi-tasking menu once I'm done with them. That might help with your battery, since apps are still technically "active," even if not currently in view.

It does go crazy every once in a while and take almost all of the CPU. I usually kill the app after using it. It seemed like the problems started after I upgraded to ICS. The app has kinda been abandoned (or at least there has been no update in ages), and I think something with the new flavors of Android doesn't play well with the app. I use Watchdog Lite to warn me when an app goes above a certain threshold of CPU usage, and the Mgoblog app frequently gets flagged for going nuts. I just make sure I kill it every time I am done using it instead of just "back"ing out of it.

I've got a couple ideas for the MGoApp that I've implemented in other languages (specifically converting plain text and line breaks to HTML formatting), and I think the same principles could probably be applied to the app relatively simply.

I suggest getting BetterBatteryStats:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterys...

It gives you more detailed information on the specific processes that are causing wakelocks and draining your battery (like processes that are lumped together as "Android System" or Android OS" in the system battery meter). It could be that you have a stray process running that keeps loading up the MGoApp for some reason. It's $3.00, but it's money well spent.
