META: Looking to get banned from MGoBlog?

Submitted by profitgoblue on

This thread is a public service announcement to any of those MGoReaders that are looking for a sure-fire way to get to Bolivian . . . Inasfar as this moderator is concerned, the fastest and easiest way to get banned from the site (if I have any say in the matter) is to "out" a fellow member of the community or other nameless celebrity/personality.

Do not - I repeat - DO NOT post any personal information about a fellow MGoMember without prior written approval

References to fellow readers are acceptable (as long as it is positive and not argument-inducing). For example:  "Lloyd Brady is awesome" OR "Profitgoblue is extremely intelligent" OR "StephenRKass has a great username." (oops!)

But consider yourself forewarned:  If I see or if anyone notifies us in the Moderator Action Sticky (link at top of page) that you are "outing" a fellow member, I will do everything in my power to make sure that you are not able to post again.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

If this is indeed what happened, I hope the offending user didn't get permabanned.  While I probably would have hesitated in doing this, it seems as if this was something meant to be good in nature that got carried away, much like the Lloyd Brady meme in the first place.

That being said, I'm stupid for having my name in my username.  Oh well, none of you crazy people better get any ideas...

I'm stupid for having my name in my username.

Maybe.  Maybe not.  I always post with some variant of my "real name".  I often have my signature linked to my "real life site".  It reminds me to avoid saying things I would not want my mother to read.

(And yes, she is in my facebook circle, too.)

I felt it was an important point to get across. Some might not, but I did and I thought it needed to be said. Privacy is very important to the integrity of the Board, in my opinion. Disagree, criticize, make fun, whatever - at the end of the day it's Brian's site and I'm just trying to help. But you know all this.

i'm not trying to bash or even be a dick - my point was solely the fact his post seems self-gratifying BECAUSE URTEHLAYINDOWNTHALAWWWWW. hell, as i acknowledged elsewhere, i prob did the same thing. but i also got bitchslapped for it rather publicly. i think i was way more enjoyable as a mod when i didn't note what rules could get people in trouble, etc, and just, you know, did it. with a post like this, it would need to have happened 8-10x. if it was one dumb person, edit/delete the content and make a note on the original thread. but this post just screamed how YOUCARRYTEHBIGSTIX

i successfully put two lolcat comments into this response. i win at nothing.

Did you know he donated through Beveled Guilt? He's an asshole and probably someone you'd want to punch in the face after 5 minutes of meeting him. I thought you were a dick as a mod but I'd take you over profit any day of the week. Self gratification is his MO. He looks in a mirror when he jerks off.

I'm kind of joking. The other part that nobody has stated is that Brian was trying to out McFarlin a couple years ago. Anyway, you could have done this in a different way so you didn't seem like a prick. My comments are extremly rude but I realize that. I don't think you realize what you're posting at times and how you come off. I don't really care who the mods are but you seem like you want everyone to know you're one and that you have power over them. Just make sure people don't flame and ban the ones that do it constantly. What other kind of responsibilities are there?

Honestly, my tone was probably kind of lame but I got upset about the Lloyd Brady matter and posted in quasi-anger. That's why it read poorly, I guess. But that was not my intention - I simply meant to make the point that was made in a firm way because that type of thing is really not cool. Some that get a little too personal need to be reminded, I think. Nevertheless, the tone was less than stellar and for that I'll apologize.
