Meta: Favorite MGoAvatars of All-Time
With the meta threads of favorite former posters late last night and the SFW avatars post below, it got me thinking about my favorite avatars of all time on this site. It's awesome how avatars on here become intertwined with our perceptions of other posters' personalities, and I thought it'd be fun to see who all of our favorites are (that and work is really busy, so I need something to distract me). For me personally, I'm a big fan of the following:
- Hank Hill: Not sure if he really posts very much on here, but whenever he does, I can't help but read his post in Hank's voice and add a "I tell ya what" to end of it.
- Magnus: I like to think I have some sort of personal relationship with Brandon Graham solely based off of his avatar.
- LSAClassof2000: I'm not a brony, but I can appreciate the balls it takes to have a "My Little Pony" avatar.
- Evenyoubrutus: Who doesn't love a kick-ass mullet?
So, who are your favorite MGoAvatars and what iconic ones here am I leaving out?
January 6th, 2015 at 11:45 AM ^
I really liked ThatMattasGoblin with the shark/horse. LSA's brony.
Also I forget who but someone had what looked like a minecraft robot doing the heisman pose like a year ago. Anybody remember this?
In an related note, a lot of people either have the same avatar or very similar ones. Like the old wolverine wearing a sailor hat logo, or a thousand different versions of the block M. Let's be unique here ladies and gents! Let the blog be your canvas...

Space coyote as well.

does he ever get the helmets apart?
January 6th, 2015 at 12:30 PM ^
Nope. There's a Kickstarter to pay for the required surgery.

'Hugh Jass' avatar of Charlie Weiss.
But you need the screen name with it. Otherwise, it's a crappy avatar.

I just got this -- but heck, you've only been on the blog for 4 years . . . .

I like the avatars with the ladies in M gear.

for awesome 70's creepiness and Brady Hoke Artichoke.
Also second the "Shorse".
January 6th, 2015 at 11:55 AM ^
I used to think Magnus' avatar was Magnus himself, until I looked closely and saw it was Brandon Graham.

I love Boliver's avatar, mostly because I love Will Ferrell, and we always need more cowbell!

a couple years ago there was a gif avatar with a blank sheet of paper, and a tiny bug crawling all over it. No way I'll ever remember the username, but that was kind of cool. Anyone recall that one?
January 6th, 2015 at 1:04 PM ^
I spent way more time than I'd like to admit attempting to rid my computer screen of that damn bug.
January 6th, 2015 at 11:56 AM ^
but half the time it's hard to make out what the avatars are.
January 6th, 2015 at 12:00 PM ^
Maybe my eyes are bad, too...
...but I"m pretty sure your avatar is two naked Oompa Loompas mooning the camera.
January 6th, 2015 at 12:23 PM ^
so people can get the Oompa Loompa money shot.

There's nothing wrong with a little Oompa-on-Loompa love, Willy. It's legal in numerous states now. This isn't 1971 anymore.

I miss jdon's old avatar
January 6th, 2015 at 11:58 AM ^
My memory isn't what is to be, but if you liked it, I'd assume it was a picture of a cup of Chobani.

a macaroni noodle

That thing gave me the heebie-jeebies.

I would go back but I would hate to come up in a NSFW conversation...

Don't remember what the guy's screen name was but the one of Denard eating cereal (photoshopped) was pretty great.

My Dad had about a 6 movie rotation that I grew up watching with him. Kelly's Heroes, The Sting, Hoosiers, Josey Wales,The Natural, and The Godfather.

There are many classic avatars on the blog, but to name a few:
- SpaceCoyote, simply because that comes from one of my favorite Simpsons episodes
- GoBlueInOhio, because I like to believe that the spirit of Bob Ross visits MGoBlog for some reason
- maizenbluedevil, I still don't think Anthony Morelli has gotten off he turf either from that hit
- EveryoneMurders, there aren't words - it's perfect the way it is
There are too many good ones to list really.
Also, thanks to JHendo for the mention!

Can't remember his name.

Diabeetus, I think.

Diabeetus, I believe, and yes that one is a good one.

But Don, Mr Miggle and ShruteBeetfarm I think are clever also.
January 6th, 2015 at 12:11 PM ^
Carlos Spicywiener's avatar always cracks me up. Many of the other choice ones have been listed as well.
January 6th, 2015 at 12:15 PM ^
Don, The Shredder, 1484, BlueBarron, mgobaran, True Blue Grit, oriental andrew and amphibious1.
Most bizzare avatar is DennisFithian.
January 6th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
LOL. I knew Dennis back when he worked at WTKA, and I've always wondered if that's really him here.
January 6th, 2015 at 12:14 PM ^
Everyone Murders - I don't know who that guy is, but he looks like a cross between Tim Robbins and Mick Hucknall from Simply Red
Oriental Andrew - Gotta love Voltron
Big Boutros - Hairy fat guy in Speedo with cross tan line, enough said

Jack Nance. Eraserhead. A movie you should definitely not see under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol....
January 6th, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
I disagree. I think it's best to smoke a large quantity of pot before watching. Heightens the weirdness by a factor of 100x.

At a UM film festival, of all things. I still carry the emotional scars....
January 6th, 2015 at 2:57 PM ^
Well, I can certainly agree with the Voltron sentiment.

his is great and unique.
and i second the mgobrewmom's avatar nomination.
January 6th, 2015 at 12:24 PM ^
I'd vote for myself, but it's actually kind of annoying, b/c I tend to use it to find my own posts and if someone has a cirular-shaped avatar (like the UM seal, *cough*) then my eye is drawn to that and the searches for my own posts get distracted.
